Depending on how soon you wish to return to work after having Bub, then maybe you should look at investigating day cares especially if you want a specific one. School not until one and half to two years before they are to go

It depends on where you live and the availability for child care. No harm in ringing them just to ask and they may be able to give you an indication about school wait times too. In country areas it seams to be a lot easier than the city to find placement.

I think it depends where you live. I didn’t look into daycare or pre-schools etc until I needed them (which was when my son was about 12 months)

That’s a great question. I am 27 weeks & was told a few weeks ago to start thinking about child care, however after speaking with friends who live in the same area as we do, they seemed to not have any issues in getting their kids in to child care, as opposed to the person who suggested it. She lives a lot closer to the city in a much younger area than what we do.
I definitely don’t want to start thinking about anything beyond that yet, though – I’ll get to that eventually! Especially seeing as we’re choosing to send our kids to local public schools, in which case they have to be accepted.

This depends on a variety of factors including location, choice of daycare, prestige of daycare etc. Many preschools in many areas do have long waiting lists so if you would be thinking of heading back to work in the first year contact as soon as babies born. They usually need birth certificates and immunisation certificates to register so I think it may still be too early but you could always find out.

Pre-School the year before, same with school and daycare I am not sure as we didn’t put our children into it

This will totally depend upon your individual area, If you are in an affluent area with limited places certialy get into it now! I also dont think I have ever heard anyone say “oh we are too prepared!”

I’m so happy for you. you do not need to anxious about those , you should know more information about a newborn . The child’s world is very wonderful!

I think you need to enjoy your pregnancy, wait till the baby is born and you enjoy her.then worry about this.

If your not going to be a stay at home mum I would start looking at a daycare as there is limited spaces.

Well, You do not need to be in a rush if you are a stay at home mum, however if you a working mum with limited time for maternity leave. looking around now for a good daycare for baby would helpp to put your mind at rest so that when you have to go back to work after birth, you can rest, assured that she’s in the best hands possible. Have a safe delivery.

i would say that its too early but hey if u want to and Can do it, why not. just have fun while you can though

This really depends on where you live; it’s very variable around the country. I’d ring a few daycare centres near you and ask their advice – they’ll know what their waiting lists are like. For school, I’m pretty sure you can wait a few more years in most places.

Nothing wrong with going along and checking out some day-care centres near to you, if you’re looking at using them when bub arrives. Some of the waiting lists can be absolutely horrendous, so putting your name down at one or two now, may help you to get in when you need it. I wouldn’t be worrying about schools yet though. Time enough for that after bub arrives.

If you’re happy with the school that your zoned for, then no problems. If you’re wanting to go to private schools then start writing your applications & posting them off with your application fees. Childcare centres also can be a nightmare to get into so I’d be putting my name down too

The waiting lists for daycare/childcare centres can be long so I’d go with “yes”, schools maybe 2 years before they are due to be enrolled just so you have the school you want or enough time to get on the waiting list for a school of your second choice.
