Hello!

Hey, any tips on getting rid of field mice? I’ve spotted 1 inside my house and to note I am very very clean, I have two young kids so obviously lots of crumbs and what not are dropped on the floor which I clean daily! Just after any home remedies or tips really? I know there are traps and what not but want to avoid them if necessary just because of the kids

  • I’d get a pest controller to come in

  • I find them seasonal. If there’s a lot of rain in the country, we find they’re out much more. Unless you live in a tip and have loads of rubbish around, it’s just one of those things. I love the traps that have a casing around where the mouse gets caught and you then just release the button and never have to see the result.

  • Ew gross! I put RatSak in out of the way places

  • There are humane traps that you can get if you are really averse to killing them. Other than that – invest in a cat that’s a good mouser.

  • I saw one here the other, sends shivers up my spine

  • I always put ratsak in out of the way places. In the roof, under the house, behind/under furniture etc

  • I’d talk to a fumigator for tips.

  • Seal off any holes around your house where they can come in, with steel wool. Especially around pipes,

  • 1:1:1 vinegar, lemon juice, and peppermint all over the house. Vinegar is also a disinfectant that they hate the smell of, so you can mop the floors with this too. (as well as traps or bait)

  • there are individual packaged rat bait. pop them unopened where u suspect the mice is;
1, if its there the bait package will be bit through
2, the mice will dry up when dead
    worked for me.
just make sure kids cant get to it though

  • There is a trap (safe around kids) called the big cheese multi mouse trap. You can get similar cheap on line or at Bunnings. You put food in the trap and it catches them live. You then have to drop the trap in a deep bucket to drown them. Not everyone’s cup of tea but they do work and are safe.

  • Find their entry point. Before mice can nest in your home, they need to find a way inside. …
    Set mouse traps. …
    Clear out the garage. …
When all else fails, call an exterminator. …
    Seal off entry points. …
Prune branches from your house. …
    Remove food supplies. …
    Make your garbage off-limits.

  • Mice come into a house for a variety of reasons; to be safe, for shelter and for food. Always ensure there are no gaps for entry around the house.

  • Also, I just wanted to say that please don’t take it as a sign of you not being clean – apparently there is a mice plague across the South-East of Australia :)

  • Thank you :) I haven’t heard of peppermint & will definitely give it a go :) xx

  • Peppermint Power: Soak cotton balls in peppermint oil and place them where you think the mouse might be entering. Mice hate the smell!
Seal it Up: Check for tiny gaps around pipes or baseboards, even a dime-sized hole is an entry point. Steel wool can be a temporary fix.
