Hello!

It’s been a week since clocks were turned back an hour and my little one insists on waking up early. I’ve tried keeping him up an hour later, leaving him in his cot longer even when he’s awake and giving him an extra nap in the afternoon to try and trick his internal clock. Nothing has worked so far. Any other suggestions of what I should try to help him adjust to daylight savings?

  • Black out curtains in his bedroom to block out the daylight. Get onto it asap before his internal body clock is used to his current sleep pattern

  • Very dark room and maybe even buy a “Gro-clock” it teaches the little ones when the right time to get out of bed is! When the sun is up on the clock, they are allowed up but while the moon is up, they are to stay in bed. Good luck, it can take awhile for them to adjust!

  • Black out curtains for his bedroom to block out as much sunlight as possible so they can’t tell it’s lighter then normal. It’s a pain in the bum fir all kids, EVERY year!

  • Slow process

  • window shutters or dark curtains are good

  • try keeping his room very dark and let him go to bed just one hour later

  • lol we are still trying to get ours to sleep pass 6 am now

  • Block out dark curtains can work great :-)

  • How dark is his room. As daylight seems to wake up my little one

  • I found block out curtains work best to keep the room dark, encouraging them to sleep longer.

  • Darken his room … If you have outside awning outside put it down or hang darker curtains

  • I have had the same issue. I am about to buy a gro clock. I am not sure if you have heard of them but if you havent google it. It may take a while for them to understand as they say you can use from two years of age.

  • I just did everything at the same time as normal. It only took 2 days to adjust.

  • try and make the room dark with some really good curtains or alfoil on them

  • Choose one strategy and stick with it for longer than one day to develop consistency and break the habit.

  • darken the room with bin liners on the window but they will change in their own time!

  • I’m sorry to say but they always go by there own body clock and just because your actual clocks have been changed this means nothing to a little one

  • It takes time for babies to adjust. Have you got blockout curtains for the bedtime routine?

  • My son always gets up early and is having the same problem, I think over time it will get better. I also have a problem with my dog lol he is now howling for his dinner at 3:30 instead of 5:30 dinner so his times are completely out.

  • Just like the previous response, we just changed bed times and dinner time by about 20 minutes, and did it gradually. It worked.
