When my daughter was about 3 months old she went through a terrible time with her sleep but it improved after about 3 – 4 weeks. With regards to sleeping through the night, I guess I was lucky. I can’t recall when I stopped her night feeds (I’m thinking it was at least 6 months but probably older), I probably let it go on longer than it needed to.
When she woke in the night, I gave her a minute to see if she would settle. I would then go in, comfort her, shush her and offer her a drink of water. Then I would put her back in her cot and leave. If she grizzled/ cried, then I would wait a little bit before going in and repeating the same procedure. Essentially what I did was like responsive Cry It Out.
She was in the habit of waking in the night and getting fed but she wasn’t really hungry, it was just a habit/ routine. I was there to comfort her and to feed her if she was persistent but after a couple of nights, she started sleeping all the way through.
Hahahaha, unfortunately there is no magic potion for this. Only time, patience and perseverance will get you through this one. Make sure they’re dry, comfy, warm and snuggley, fed…..there’s not too much more you can do
Unfortunately you can’t! They need to be fed throughout the day and night unfortunately! It might feel like you’ll never sleep a full night again, but it will eventually happen. My second daughter is finally sleeping through at 14 months.
