Hello!

My husband arrives home from work starving & starts grazing before dinner. He has just moved from an outdoor job to an office job and still has lunch around 11.30 each day because of his early start. By the time he gets home at 5pm he is starving. He packs quite a good lunch and enough snacks and drinks plenty of water but when he gets home he wants chips, cakes, biscuits etc…I have stopped buying packets of chips and biscuits to reduce these products from his diet. But he says he needs something. What do other Hubbies eat to satisfy their hunger until dinner is ready? Any ideas would be welcome!

  • Starving people often seek out carbs…all the crap stuff. What guys bodies are usually in need of is protein. Fry up a quick cheese omelette with mushrooms & he should be as right as rain.
It’ll take 5 mins but you should get heaps of brownie points, guys generally think hot food always takes a lot of effort 😉

  • what about those diet bars that fill you up?

  • fruit smoothie is a fantastic way to keep blood sugar regular and satisfy him until dinner. Just make sure the smoothie is made up of only fruits or vegetable. No fats and carb source or he might be too full for dinner.

  • If you want to keep it healthy what about having a healthy fruit smoothie – make one for the whole family
What about making some healthy muffins that you can keep in the freezer and take out in the morning to defrost for when he gets home?
Or make a batch of museli bars/oat bars (or buy them depending on time you have available)
If he is after something sweet then any of these would be good to curb the sweet tooth
I freeze bananas and blend them with mixed berries to make a healthy icecream he could have some in a cone or a bowl of it
Banana in a bowl with almond spread and honey is a healthy snack, sweet and filling plus protein
You could try getting some protein balls or making them there are lots of recipes they can be sweet, yummy and good for you
My husband often has a green smoothy – spinach, apple, berries, kale, celery, chia seeds, almonds all blended together with water, its quite filling and very healthy.
    Hope this helps 🙂

  • We have tea early between 5/6 pm so hubby gets home and can eat straight away i find this has really helped 🙂 goodluck

  • Not really much help, but maybe cook dinner earlier than you usually would. At least he’ll know it’s not long until dinner and wait. Or else he could have coffee, tea, lemon water or another beverage like that which would fill the tummy in the meantime. Snacking on Almonds won’t hurt either. Good Luck xx
