Cleaning the bluish-greenish stains caused by corroding pipes is easy. Just mix vinegar and baking soda into a paste, apply to the stains and wait about 10 minutes before wiping off. To prevent these stains, you’ll want to have your water tested to see what is making your water so corrosive.
Sounds like Brass stain try Lemon and Baking Soda Polish. Combine the juice of half a lemon with a teaspoon of baking soda and stir until it becomes a paste. Apply the paste with a soft cloth. If the tarnish is heavy, let the piece sit with the paste on it for 30 minutes. Rinse with warm water and dry.
I do have a little green rim at the bottom of my vanity spout. I’ve tried bleach, ajax and vinegar but it’s still there. I have no idea what it is. I’m guessing it’s something metallic like copper.
p.s. be v cautious re solvemts like acetone because they will either work or strip the top coating of yr vanity – like nailvarnish on plastic- disastrous.
