Hello!

I can’t help but want a nicer engagement/Wedding ring We got what we could afford at the time which is fine but now 12 years on I often find myself wanting a nicer ring…then I feel guilty about it and think it’s just a waste of money ….does anyone else feel like this ?

  • It’s completely normal to feel conflicted about wanting a nicer ring, especially when you look back at your initial purchase and see how things have changed over time. It’s okay to want something that reflects your current tastes or feels more special to you now.

That said, it’s also important to consider how it fits into your financial situation. If you can afford to upgrade without straining your budget, then it might be worth having that piece that feels more meaningful to you. But if you’re feeling guilty about it, maybe consider what it symbolizes to you beyond just the cost.

Having an honest conversation with your partner about how you both feel about the ring and its significance could help too. Ultimately, it’s about finding balance—if an upgrade feels like it would bring joy to both of you, and you’re in a good place financially, it might not be such a bad decision after all.

  • I didnt because I got what I wanted at the time.
Instead of getting a replacement engagement or wedding ring why not suggest to hubby that he invest in a nice Eternity ring for you.

  • I was in the same situation as you. I chose my engagement and wedding rings based on what we could afford at the time. I think it was 6-8 years later and I felt the engagement ring looked outdated (mind you I have been married 19 years in September and I LOVE my $200 wedding band) My husband and I talked about it and we ended up trading my original and getting a new one made, again with the budget we had. I love it and he was happy to make me happy.

  • I have no engagement ring and have the most simple wedding band excisting and have no desire to have a nicer ring.
But you look into adding a piece to your ring ?

  • I say yes why not! You can always put the old ring on the right hand and wear the new one. This shows you still love your old one just as much as the new one by wearing both.

  • I love my rings and my engagement ring isn’t huge and sometimes I wonder about whether I would upgrade one day.. and I don’t think so. I think I would buy another ring that I wanted but wear it on my other hand. Why not wear that everyday too?

  • If you want to change your ring/s it is your decision. :)

  • I love my original rings and have no desire to change them.

  • I think if you can afford a new ring and want one go for it.

  • I love mine and I think everyone deserves to. If you are both happy go for it otherwise I love the idea other people have suggested of an eternity ring.

  • No harm in getting a new one if yah can afford it. You have to look at it everyday, you need to like it

  • Be happy with what you got now. Don’t think about the past and it wasting your present moment.

  • Maybe it was all he could afford at the time. I wouldn’t complain about it because it would have been bought with love. When my late husband bought my ring I loved it because it was from him and he chose it.

  • Have you thought about an eternity ring? Its ok to want something better but maybe you can both design one that fits your other 2 rings.

  • I don’t think its a waste of money if you are going to wear it for a long time.

  • I love my ring, it’s so simple and small but I don’t know if I could change it. It has memories attached to it.

  • I remember buying my engagement ring on our honeymoon with what we hadn’t spent – it wasn’t expensive but I wouldn’t have changed it for anything. Have you thought about an eternity ring or another ring to go with it which could really enhance the look of the ring.

  • if you can afford it why not

  • Get the ring you want, if you are in a better position financially go for it .

  • I haven’t felt like this unfortunately, I love my rings but in saying that we have only been married 4.5yrs.
I guess if you can afford to update/renew your rings then why not.
