  • Not as yet but won’t rule it out!

  • prob not weight loss, more flexibility and relaxation

  • Yep! Went with friends and enjoyed it!

  • Hi yes i have tried pilates.
I find it great. Really helps you to destress . Relax and stretch out your muscles.

  • I couldnt handle it, it was too slow for me

  • Yes and have found it wonderful. If you want to find out if you like it try borrowing a dvd or a book from the library and see if you like the techniques for yourself. Hope you enjoy it as others are.

  • it is also good for joints and muscle strength

  • Great for toning and changing your body shape

  • yeah this is very popular with the celebrities

  • Pilates is better for toning than weight loss as it is not high intensity.

  • One hour of Pilates exercises can use between 241 to 421 cal, depending on the individual and the intensity of the exercise, so in comparison to other forms of exercise it is not the most calorie efficient. Pilates is good for toning the muscles in the abdomen and back and the hips. It changes the shape of the body & may tone those areas which otherwise may look fatty and flabby. My favourite part about Pilates is that it can give the flat tummy effect, so you might look better in clothes if not on the scales :)

  • I love Pilates! I joined when I was planning to get pregnant & continued until I had to stop (for medical reasons) at 34 weeks. I picked it up again after my 6 week check. I found it alone didn’t do heaps for weight loss but it pulled my belly in pretty quickly. I use it as “me time” & because I can see the difference it is making to my body it lifts my mood.

  • Being a pilates instructor I’m a little bias but yes it’s great for core strength and toning. Any exercise program combined with a diet of moderation is good for weight loss

  • It’s fabulous and great for core strength too

  • From a bad back sufferer, Pilate’s is fabulous. Equipment Pilate’s under the supervision of a physio is the best.

  • You won’t put weight on while doing the exercises. You will improve your muscle strength and flexibility. Walking is a great way to lose weight if you can walk at border collie pace.

  • I have been going to a weekly Pilates with a physio for 3 years. It is awesome for core strength and injury prevention/ recovery but I don’t get any noticeable weight loss benefit as it is low impact and not aerobic. It can build good muscle tone which can help a little with weight loss.

  • I am mum, a physiotherapist and a pilates teacher! Pilates is fabulous for general strength and toning but is best combined with regular aerobic exercise (e.g. walking, running) if your main goal is weight loss. Pilates is particularly beneficial during pregnancy and in the post natal period to optimise pelvic floor and deep abdominal muscle strength in a safe yet challenging way. More information about the benefits of pilates can be found on my website http://www.bulimbapilates.com.

  • Thanks guys! Problem I have with zumba is I have a back injury and am needing a spinal fusion and have been told not to do it :(

  • I’ve heard it is great, along with Yoga, Interested to know from people who have practised it though :)
