I drew some pictures on a a4 paper and put it through the contacting machine. I then cut them out and I then covered a plain a4 paper and stuck strips of velcro on them and on to the pictures i had cut out. That way i could change it every day to suit what they are doing. I had picutes from doc apponiments,to lunch, swimming lessons, bed, playtime, brush teeth, shower, toliet, clean room etc anything you can think of. I also had another a4 sheet with all the ones stuck on that were not in use that day. Every night before bed my son and i discuss the next day and change his rooster to suit. It has really helped him feel settled about whats happening.
Unless the board is up high , don’t expect the routine to remain readable. Your toddlers will just want to play with the magnets….or are you using playing with the magnets as a routine? If the children are not allowed to play with them they are going to be distressed as the colours of them will attract their attention to them.
I don’t – I’m guided by what my toddler is interested in on the day. I do try to introduce different things – drawing, cookjng, block, outings but some days.. well…are just not good days! I follow a routine from her daycare 930am morn team, 1130am lunch, 12/1230 bed, 330 or before afternoon tea. I can gauge what time it is without checking as she gives me cues for meal times
