  • Brush twice a day.
    Floss regularly.
    Drink water after eating.
Eat healthy and ban sugar out of the diet.
Dentist check ups 2x a year

  • Brushing their teeth properly, and regularly, is the absolute best protection here.

  • Brush twice daily and have check-up at the dentist.
I’m nearly 30 and I have never had a cavity. Absolutely love going to the dentist and I now have given that same attitude to my children.

  • Brush twice a day, floss regularly, drink water after eating. You can also ask your dentist to put a coating on the surface of the molars to protect from cavities.

  • brush teeth twice daily, drink lots of water.

  • Make sure they’re brushing their teeth properly.

  • The other answers are pretty spot on (used to be a dental nurse)
Yes some children/adults are more prone to cavities because they can have very deep spots where the food can be trapped on the tooth therefore have a problem for cavities.
You can get fissure sealants to help this.
(You may even be able to have that all covered bulk billed if you recieve the benefit)
Another option you may like to ask your dentist about.
There is a toothpaste called tooth mousse that basically put minerals back into the teeth and helps protect them.
Also as you may already know juice is a big problem so try to avoid it and keep your regular check ups for a clean.
    All the best.

  • visit dentist for routine clean up and ask if the child can have the teeth sealed, that way the foods won’t stay on their teeth. The children need to have high calcium diet as well which contains milk/yogurt/cheese to make their teeth strong.

  • Also, look up/ask your dentist about getting their teeth sealed. My dentist said that I had the type of teeth that would get cavities no matter what but they could be sealed. Obviously it would be better to do this when they are younger to avoid a lifetime of cavities.

  • make sure they drink water with each meal and get the to use mouth wash after brushing

  • I agree, brushing teeth with fluoride toothpaste after every meal and drinking water helps a lot.
I also think it’s genetic or something though, some people just have bad teeth no matter what they do unfortunately. And some people have excellent teeth and hardly ever clean them.

  • I’d love to know the answers to this too as my son has bad teeth an no matter what I do it’s still the same. I know how u feel..

  • Lots of water, avoid fruit juice and soft drinks as they both contain a lot of sugar. The sugar from fruit juice is no more natural than sucrose and other sugars.
Brush teeth at least twice a day. Regular dental visits.

  • Wonderful advice as usual and I also would suggest a visit to the dentist regularly and also ask his advice on further help.

  • Brushing their teeth with fluoride toothpaste after each meal is the best result but if that proves difficult when your out, finish a meal off with an apple to chew.

  • Also; drink lots of water; good for health and teeth.

  • With so much bottled water being drunk these days, kids are missing out on the fluoride that is in town tap water. We live rurally and actually fill up a container every time we go to Adelaide so that my little guy can drink that. A dental surgeon friend recommended it to us.

  • It can depend on the age of the child. Some teeth are prone to cavities when younger even when avoiding sugary and acidic foods. Follow good dental care and use a good toothbrush. Also; I would suggest getting some advice from your dentist on your child’s teeth.

  • I make sure they only drink water especially if they’ve had something sugary to eat. I’ve had fissure seals put on their back teeth which help too.
