  • Dry it properly, and lay it out on some paper towels. That will at least slow the process.

  • Try and get it completely dry before you store it in the fridge. I used to put paper towel under it but I was given a Tupperware veggie storer and the lettuce lasts so much longer than the old way I prepared it.

  • I too have heard the lettuce spinners are great.

  • I dry my lettuce thoroughly after i wash it. I find it helps.

  • My lettuce Tupperware container is 40 years & has kept my lettuce’s fresh with only washing what leaves I need. Tupperware go it right even back then!

  • I wash mine & place it in a Tupperware lettuce storage container

  • I wash and pat dry my lettuce and put it in a lettuce container. Lasts really well.

  • I wash mine as I use it. When I get it home, it chop of the end bit and take off the outer bad layers. I then wrap it in tinfoil and place in veg draw in fridge. I take what I need off and rinse and wrap it back up again. Has never failed me.

  • Lettuce never seems to last long enough in our house to go brown! ;)

  • I also just wash it just before i use it and let it drain for a few minutes in a strainer.I also only wash as much as i am going to use saves on wastage.

  • Only wash the leaves you need, washing & storing the whole lettuce tends to shorten it’s life.

  • Sometimes you just cant stop that bit of brown on the sides so I just chop it off as I go!

  • Wash, spin, seal and use as needed.

  • I have a lettuce spinner that I use. Work great

  • I only ever peel the amount I need & leave the rest intact — my lettuce has lasted 12 days doing this

  • Cut it with a plastic knife or tear with hands, and spin dry in a salad spinner. Pat off excess water with paper towel, then store in an airtight plastic bag.

Blow air into the bag before tying it. The carbon dioxide from your breath slows the wilting process.

Works with all fresh herbs and salad leaves. :)

  • i dont wash it till i need it. Thats the best way. or add lemon juice with the salad dressing if its pre prepared for srving a little later.

  • get a lettuce spinner and really drain it well. Also, knives make it go brown, so either rip it apart, or buy a plastic lettuce knife

  • I wash and dry my lettuce then pop it in a sealed container and it lasts for days!
