Hello!

My son is obsessed with cars. Every time someone comes over they bring him a $2 car. Now he asks them for specific cars that are expensive. How do I stop him from asking / expecting presents from friends & family?

  • Tell your family to stop doing it!! And maybe explain to your child thT he can’t expect gifts constantly x

  • You should let your son know when he would get presents like a treat on his birthday or Christmas. Also to tell your friends not to bring him presents on visits

  • I agree with mum 80165 that you should try to explain to your son that presents are for birthday & christmas and tell family and friends not to give him every time because they reinforce his behaviour.

  • need to let others know not to always give him one

  • You need to tell everyone to stop doing it as it’s getting out of hand. Then you tell your son to stop expecting presents from everyone that he will only be given them birthdays and Christmas Day.

  • Depends on his age, but if he is old enough I would talk to him about not always getting what he wants, but rather gifts being for special occasions such as birthdays and Christmas.
Also need to talk to your family and ask them to not give him anymore. If they insist, then again talk to your son about being thankful for what he has received, make a list of more expensive toys for those special occasions.
