  • You can sell your old clothes prior to buying new ones that way your not out laying any money. You can always shop on ebay and facebook sites as well as a lot of people buy something and it is still new but they no longer want it.

  • I only purchase items when they are on special or reduced. You have to stick to a budget, it really is the only way.

  • You just have as many savings as you can in areas like groceries, insurance and unnecessary luxuries.

  • there are some good comments here

  • buy the cheaper stuff 🙂

  • I buy most of my cleaning products from the reject shop find it heaps cheaper then the supermarket.Any where I can save a dollar I will .Better in my pocket then somebody else’s .

  • Look for something that has a 5 star energy efficiency rating.

  • I try and meal plan , thus buying meat in bulk . I have replaced a lot of “conventional” cleaning products for a safer and more economical option – bicarb, vinegar/lemon , with a splash of lavender/ eucalyptus oil if I feel like a scent – and we , as a family, love to cook, so we are forever finding new recipes to try and goodies to bake as well.

  • I have found it rewarding reading the answers here

  • Meal plan – I just spent $50 and we’ll get almost 2 wks of meals from it. I bought veg and meat in bulk and find set a real money saver. I agree – vouchers are also a winner as are freebies such as samples 🙂

  • Buy things like cleaning products, toilet paper, tissues, toiletries etc from discount stores like Chemist Warehouse, Cheap as Chips, Reject Shop etc. We do this and find some items at half the cost of that in the supermarket! Over time you save a fair bit of money!

  • use coupons and vouchers, flybuys etc.

  • You have to create budget.

  • Hope some of these suggestions have helped.

  • Like others- Meal planning.

  • There are also some good apps for budget making.

  • you will find a lot of useful suggestions here, I think most things are covered, Doing a budget you can see where the money goes and what you may be able to cut back on. Home brands for staples like pasta, rice are usually good quality and can save u money. IBuy things when on special and only if you will use them. Shop around

  • I think doing up a budget and seeing where all your money goes would be a helpful beginning.

  • It is always difficult when you first start, but how about checking on the amount of money you are paying off.. Like instead of paying a mortgage once a month, can you put a little aside and pay something every week. This may sound odd but you are then actually cutting down on the interest amount, as even if it is coming off the small amount paid on principal does add up. I have just taken a mortgage out, and my lass advised rather than even paying every fortnight, pay each week if able, which I shall do… also try to pay at the beginning of the month, and it does cut back with interest …. so many great ideas here for you to read …..

  • I agree – small things like meal planning, bulk buying and BYO lunch, drinks, snacks etc where possible add up to big savings. Shopping around is also wise 🙂
