Hello!

My hubby has caught a terrible case of the flu (and not the ‘man-flu’ strain, unfortunately it’s the real thing! tee hee hee). We are hosting a large gathering in a week and a half and knowing my luck (and Murphy’s Law!) I can foresee either my children (aged 5, 3 & 23mths) or myself catching hubby’s ailment just in time for our gathering. I’m after any MoM suggestions or ideas in terms of preventative measures (besides exiling hubby to the kids’ cubby for the duration of his ailment!) so that the children and I can avoid the discomfort that hubby is clearly going through and all enjoy the upcoming gathering. All ideas and suggestions are very greatly appreciated! How do you avoid getting sick?

  • Hope you didn’t get sick before your gathering.

  • Yep, exile to the cubby 😉 When I am feeling run down I use Swisse Ultivit (the one that you pop in some water and drink not the tablet).

  • How are you guys going with avoiding getting sick?

  • Eat healthy and you can always have vitamin c tablets each day if you want to

  • Thanks everyone!! So many great tips and ideas!! I took some of them on board (trying to maintain restraint as I was tempted to play it safe and try ALL of the ideas!! lol) & the children and I managed to remain flu-free! As a result, we had a fantastic night at our gathering & knock on wood, have still managed to escape catching any flus or colds!

  • hope you managed to remain flu free.

  • Glen 20 and plenty of hand sanitizer however despite my best efforts we always seem to share the germs anyway : (

  • Disinfect everything and don’t let him breath on you! Keep the house open and aired out.

  • Loving all the great answers!!

  • eucalyptus spray all over the house should help

  • Echinacea & olive leaf extract are effective Natural immune system boosters. Have to be taken continually though.

  • Go and get the flu shots for both you and your kids

  • Incorporate plenty of fresh garlic in your meals, it will word off getting sick.

  • Vitamin C and one clove of garlic a day. WOrks like magic.

  • Make sure he washes his hands, covers his mouth when he sneezes, pop a couple of vitamin c;s, and drink plenty of water

  • Also get your husband to wear a mask while at home so he isn’t sharing everythikng

  • I would take vitamic C and increase my garlic as well as keeping a can of glen 20 on hand

  • if you’re a stay at home mum you’ll have a better chance. I would wash everyones bedsheets every day/every second day, constant hand washing, glen 20 anything they touch and lots of hearty soups packed with veg and garlic.

  • Use anti bacteria whiles. Especially on light switches n door handles

  • eat healthy foods, exercise and wash hands regularly (I always keep Dettol hand wash with me). so clichéd, but it really does work.
