Hello!

My hubby has caught a terrible case of the flu (and not the ‘man-flu’ strain, unfortunately it’s the real thing! tee hee hee). We are hosting a large gathering in a week and a half and knowing my luck (and Murphy’s Law!) I can foresee either my children (aged 5, 3 & 23mths) or myself catching hubby’s ailment just in time for our gathering. I’m after any MoM suggestions or ideas in terms of preventative measures (besides exiling hubby to the kids’ cubby for the duration of his ailment!) so that the children and I can avoid the discomfort that hubby is clearly going through and all enjoy the upcoming gathering. All ideas and suggestions are very greatly appreciated! How do you avoid getting sick?

  • Load you and the kids up with vitamin C and make sure you are all taking a multivitamin.

  • Make sure you wash your hands before eating anything.

  • I quarantine hubby if he’s sick and I don’t have time for the rest of us to catch it. I sleep on the couch and disinfect everything he touches. I also make sure the rest of the family is getting plenty of fresh air, sunshine and good healthy food.

  • Every time that I feel a little snuffly I take my left over Elevit pregnancy vitamins and that seems to do the trick… And whilst banishing hubby probably isn’t the best of ideas – sleeping in the same room with him probably wont do you any favours either… Try to steer as clear of him and his germs as possible 🙂

  • May be a little difficult but try to keep up with Vitamin C and plenty of water. Keep warm and lock that germy away 🙂

  • Take a lot of Vitamin C.

  • Burn lots of eucalyptus oil, drink orange juice and take echinacea tablets to boost your immune system. Not sure how old you have to be to take these tablets, but as soon as someone is sick we are straight on these to avoid anyone else getting sick in our house and it usually helps.

  • Don’t overdo your nursemaid duties and get overtired. Keep the immune defences up for the whole family with plenty of fruit and vegetables.Take time out for a good walk in the fresh air, deep breathing and relax when you can

  • Other than trying to eat healthy and keeping your fluids up, Glen 20!! Spray it everywhere!! You can now buy the fabric Glen 20 aswell, I spray it on the carpet before I vacuum, wash your sheets regularly and hands etc.

  • I find if I get out in the fresh air daily I am less likely to get sick. Being inside in the heated house with lots of germs lurking can’t be good. I think going for a walk every day helps boost the immunity too, and definitely ups vitamin D levels. That and lots of hand washing, extra care cleaning, tissues in the outside bin or flush them. The kids and I also take vitamin c in Winter to help boost our immune systems. Lots of people swear by spraying Glen 20 around too. Good luck – man flu is the worst 😉
