This is one of my pet hates. If after I say no thank you – not interested and they persist…I just hang up. Also look into getting your number put on to the do not call list

I tell them they are calling a private number so therefor their calls are not apreciated. Also ask them if they have called your number off a phone list if so can they remove your number from it. ANd if its a randomly called number just say you are not intrested and goodbye and hang up.
Also put your phone number on the Do Not Call register. That way you should at least get a few les annoying calls. Oh and if there is a number on the phone id list it under do not answer Ever. So if it rings again you have a record of the number.

It happens to me too. And sometimes I really don’t know what to do. If I say I’m not interested and they still go on, I just hang the phone!

I ask them to hold the line & walk away from the phone, they don’t hold on for long.

Poor you – it is so annoying as they always call right when u r in the middle of something. I just say no thank you and please don’t call me again. We are ex directory and only get about one every month or so. So could do that.

DEB-GS, I have done that on my phone too and do not answer the numbers when they come through but they do ring several times a day!

I found registering with the do not call register made a huge difference. Unfortunately it doesn’t stop overseas calls. If it’s the overseas computer scammers calling, I tell them we don’t have a computer

Screen your calls, if they don’t leave a message, memorize the number and don’t answer the phone to those numbers.

I have told someone to stop when they launched into their script and they did not draw breath! They just did not listen and I just hung up! Tiresome! Others do continue to call. 🙁

well i get the “prank” call first so i know it is coming. It will ring and you answer and it beeps at you like it is registering that the call got answered. An hour or so later the calls will start so i just say that they have the wrong number

Have you put yourself on the Do Not Call register? Other ideas: just put the phone down and let them talk to empty air. Give the phone to your toddler. Screen calls through your answering machine.

It’s so annoying,that is one reason we got rid of the landline.Maybe think about a silent number?

I don’t get bothered too much any more as we don’t have a listed number. But I used to cut them off at the start and say, “I’ll just stop you there. I’m not interested, and can you please remove me from your list”. My Mum also screens her calls as she gets them all the time.
