Hello!

I would like to decorate my small backyard this year and make it look festive. I am not wanting those big blow up Christmas decorations, I would love something stylish but fun. I would love to hear what other mums have done in the past.

  • We don’t decorate our backyard but rather our front yard as we like passers by to see the decorations. If this is for your own family’s use only, maybe some fairy lights are always nice and festive. We also tie ribbons around tree trucks. Wrap tinsel around our gate. Maybe put some baubles on a tree in your yard.

  • Love doing fairy lights and a real Christmas tree

  • We are hosting Xmas this year and I’m focusing on fun and relaxation. Floor cushions and picnic rugs for the lawn (mmmm afternoon nap in the sun), slippery dip for the kids, solar lights for night time laughs, including fairy lights and a few discreet bits of tinsel and some home made stars (cardboard painted white and a bit of glitter). low key and focused on making a nice experience over looks.

  • We also to buy festive garden statues and ornaments for the garden. We like to visit garden nurseries and similar shops to find festive Christmas treasures for the garden. Garden statues and ornaments can be decorated with Christmas decorations. It is nice for everyone to have something of their own to decorate.

  • I am a such a big fan of solar lights and other lights at Christmas time and all times for the garden. They make the garden look so colourful and pretty and festive. It is important to keep a good eye on any lights for wear and tear and make sure they are in good working order.

  • We will be travelling over sea’s this year during the summer holidays, so we won’t decorate at all (also no presents, nice and easy). But other years I like to decorate with solar Christmas lights and I also have two or three spare Christmas trees, which I like to use for the outside decoration.

  • I’ve seen post where they put a big bow over the screen door like it’s tied around a package. Coloured fairy lights are the first thing that come to mind or a large outdoor Xmas tree.

  • There are some really gorgeous festive solar lights you can get and or fairy lights are pretty all year round. You could even have a little outdoor xmas tree with simple decorations or there’s some beautiful wooden Christmas’s cutouts you could buy, depending on what sort of theme you wanted.

  • If you have established trees in your yard you would string fairly lights on that always looks beautiful, or on your patio or fence. Glass panelled lanterns or candle holders can be filled with baubles and the Christmas foliage decos (pine cones, berries). Big red bows. There are some really nice new decorations at Big W this year.
