Hello!

Just wondering what is the best way to sanitize plastic chopping boards, particularly if you have chopped raw chicken on the board? I dont have a dishwasher so would need to sanitize it by hand.
Thank you.

  • just give it an immediate rinse in cold water then a quick scrub with dish liquid. then wash again with your next lot of dishes.
and if you notice your board getting a bit funky remember you can soak in a mild bleach water for an hr to kill off any residual nasties

  • You dont. Throw them out and buy a glass one…

  • I use hot water with alot of dishwashing liquid!

  • Using a paste of baking soda, salt and water, scrub the board and rinse under hot, hot water.

  • make a paste of vinegar and bicarb, rub it in and leave for a minute or two then rinse et voila!

  • I wash my cutting board by hand using regular dishwashing liquid and then rinse well under hot water.

  • Wash in warm soapy water, scrubbing if necessary, and a couple of seconds in the microwave to get the last of the bacteria

  • HOT soapy water and then Rinse Rinse Rinse!

  • I always soak then in a bleach water mix and scrub and dry well

  • I usually give it a rinse in hot water straight after using it.. Really hot water. Stops the bits of chicken drying and going slimey on it. Then it gets washed with the other dishes in hot soapy water.

  • I have separate boards for red meat, raw chicken, fruit and veges. To give the meat boards a thorough clean I soak them in bleach and then wash them in hot soapy water.

  • I use a separate board for cutting raw chicken or fish to the ones I use for cutting fruit, veggies, toast.

And hot soapy water for cleaning!

  • Wash them in hot soapy water.

  • soak in vinegar!!! works great

  • If you have one of those handheld steamers they work great for cleaning plastic chopping boards.

  • you can use bleach and soak them in it for 1 hour or use the santaizer that you use for washing baby bottles with think its called milton. use your sink and wash and soak as directions this will also santize your sink too’

  • I would wash it in hot soapy water, to be honest tho your much better off getting a glass chopping board for meats as its so much easier to clean as it doesnt get into all the little holes.

  • I rinse then wash in hot soapy water but if I have been cutting up raw meat, I use a paste of bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar as a cleaner before rinsing.

  • I too have different boards for different foods & spray them with vinegar. I also soak them in Milton once a month (or if they look grubby) because my husband has a habit of using the wrong board & rinsing instead of washing them! lol

  • I always use a different board for my meat/veges/bread etc. My mum taught me to wash my meat board in hot soapy water then spray with vinegar to kill all the germs. I have been doing this and I think it is working! No food poisoning at our house!
