Hello!

Hi moms! Need some ideas on how to stop 22 month old twin boys from biting each other and everyone else. I have been told that they will grow out of this but now that they are breaking each others skin and leaving bruising when they are biting it is getting a bit to much. How do you stop kids biting each other?

  • Repetition is key here – separate them whenever it happens, and tell them it’s not acceptable. It’ll take a while, but they should eventually get it.

  • It is definitely a phase they’re going thru and it will pass. In the meantime, keep up your chastising whenever you catch them doing it….whatever you do when you’re pulling them into line

  • yes you have to get them to have a time out and explain how it hurts each other

  • Great question, and when we find a definitive solution we can share it with the world! It must be hard with twins because they know what it feels like and they still do it. I’m thinking a straight froward time out may help to calm them down.

  • I was going to say I was always told that if one child bites another and your near by bite them back gentle so they know what it feels like but if they are biting each other they are probably just getting frustrated by another. I agree with keeping them seperate at times and also yelling no and immediately putting them in time out.

  • We have twin girls and haven’t gotten to this stage (yet, I’m hoping we don’t at all!) so thank you to everyone for your suggestions — I’ll keep them in the memory banks!

  • It’s been a while, hope everything worked out.

  • I hope your twins are getting along better now! You must have your hands full.

  • How are your twins going now?

  • I hope you have found some helpful suggestions here.

  • Has anything managed to work?

  • Well that’s not good. I wouldn’t know how to stop that!

  • I’d definitely separate them straight away, as soon as the biting starts. I hope things have improved since you asked this.

  • Make sure the naughty corner is away from all family activity

  • When it happens give an almighty screech NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO then separate them and have the biter go to a naughty corner and then they can’t play until there is an appology

  • Go mad at them and tell them that it is naughty and separate them for a while and every time they bite each other

  • Separate them straight away! Make them apologise to each other and give a cuddle.

  • Separate them straight away and say they can’t play with each other because they are not being nice. Also make sure the say sorry or hug each other.

  • time out is the best answer and make sure they are sorry and say sorry you could always put a baby gate on their door if they get out of where they are supposed to be for timeout that has works well for us
