Hello!

The law states that from the birth of your baby, you have 60 days to submit the form to Births, Deaths and Marriages. Some people have a name already chosen, some people need to “meet” the the baby first. How long did it take you to name your baby?

  • We had a name picked out before our son was born – I liked talking to him with a name before he was out

  • We did the Harmony test and knew we were having a girl at 10 weeks gestation. It took us less than a week to finalise a name and we stuck with it.

  • We named all of ours by about three months into the pregnancy.

  • Hubby gave me full naming rights for a Boy but the scan said girl. We were told two days before she was born that I would be staying in hospital until delivery – that day we finally locked in our name, at 37 wks we had an emergency Csection – being wheeled in i said to hubby if she comes out a He this is the name i want. Nope definitely a girl! OUr 3 yr old had boy and girl names picked from about 10wks pregnant

  • We didn’t know if we were going to have a boy or a girl, so we chose two girls names and two boys names prior to the birth. As soon as our daughter was born, we went with our first choice for girls name and have always loved it.

  • We named our daughter as soon as we found out I was expecting a female child. It was a name I had loved forever, and my husband loved it too.

  • Some people chose their child names then change their mind once baby arrives.
It’s ok to plan ahead & change your mind.
    It is a big decision!
We had our names picked out early in the pregnancy & stuck with them but I have friends who have changed their minds after meeting baby.

  • lol….had already thought of the name…so when the doc asked in the hospital…I was like,,,..yes we have a name in mind :)

  • We named very early on in the pregnancy. Had a girl name and a boy name picked out.

  • We hadn’t chosen a name but we had one that we kept mentioning and umming and ahhhing about. After the birth, we were too exhausted to think of any others so thats what we chose. I do really like it though.

  • i always have names picked out before the birth

  • My first 5 babies were named in early pregnancy and those names stuck all the way through, baby number 6 we had a names but weren’t entirely sure, however when she was born, we stuck with the name we had chosen.

  • with our three kids we had a short list for each and decided on a name once we had them in our arms. But i do have a friend which couldnt decide on a name and used a different name each week until one just stuck. and there is another friend where its their family custom not to release he name to anyone till they have a namming/christening day. when bubs is a few months old.

  • We had two names picked out but couldn’t decide between them. It took us a couple of days before we chose her name.

  • Mine, two month before the baby born.

  • I named both of mine before they were born. It helped me bond much better with them.
