Hello!

We are looking at either selling our house or renting it out. Just wondering how many agents/how many appraisals we should get done? Do you think 2 or 3 opinions is enough? Or should we just pick 1 agent and go with what they say?

  • I would think getting 2 or 3 will give you a better idea of value. I’m not sure of any costs associated with having your home appraised. If they’re expensive I’d probably just look around and pick one.

  • I would definitely go with a few options rather than just getting one

  • From experience I’d go with 3 different appraisals. I’d also look online to see what similar properties are selling for and make a list of questions to ask each appraiser.

  • Yes, a couple of opinions to compare is always good !

  • I would get a few opinions so you can make a better decision!

  • I’d get three, that should give you a good idea.

  • no it is worth getting a few opinions, why not!

  • I would probably get 3 different appraisals, that’s usually enough for you get an idea of things

  • definetly check out a few agents. Each agent has different things to offer and has different opinions on the market. Make a list of questions you want to ask and get each of them to answer. Ensure they give you all the costs and fees up front. Good luck with whatever you decide.

  • I agree with MoM165081. I would get at least 3 opinions, and then go with the agent you feel most comfortable with.

  • We have sold and rented out a few places and always get 3 agents appraisals. Some agents also make a better fit for your personality/ style of home too – go with who you feel comfortable with as well as the possible figures they present you.
