  • Usually about $20-$25 is what we budget for a child’s gift.

  • For school friends/sport friends birthday – I limit between $25-$30

  • Family around $100-150 unless there is something specific I want to buy/they are asking for then it can be higher.

For friends kids we try to spend closer to $50-100

School parties etc we spend around $30, more of it is a “best friend” but we try to be mindful of everyone’s financial situation too, we try not to overwhelm anyone with the amount spent, as some people feel they have to reciprocate.

We used to spend minimum $50 at kids parties and had a mum tell me it was a little bit too much, so we cut down to the $30.

  • between $20 and $30. if they are a family member or kids of my very close friends, I usually spend closer to the $30. I try to pick up things when they are on special so that I (or actually the child) are getting more bang for my buck, even though i still spend the same amount.

  • $20-$30 but I’m buying for primary or younger not sure about older kids.

  • About $20-30 depending on the child.

  • $20 for primary school age and anywhere from $30 – $50 for high school or older.

  • $30 max on present and card

  • It can vary if it is for a special milestone birthday.

  • A $20 limit is quite adequate for presents.

  • Unless its a special birthday (or there are special circumstances) $20 is generally my limit for birthday presents.

  • It depends on how we know the child. Kinder friends is roughly $20, close friends and my nieces and nephews around $50. Just depending on what they have asked for but $50 is a max

  • I generally don’t spend anymore then $20 on my kids friend’s. All their parents say they have enough things anyways and kids love things for 5mins then move on. I usually get them a few books or something crafty.

  • 20 to 30 usually can get something nice for that amount

  • $15 and my child makes a card. If it’s a close friend probably more.

  • It really depends on the age of the children. I tend to spend around $10 especially at Christmas time when I have a lot of children and family to buy for. It is the thought that counts.

  • It all depends on the relationship with the child, I like to buy things on sale or at bargain prices that I put away in a birthday box, saves time and money

  • Personally around 20, maximum 25 dollars
