Hello!

I am wondering if I am washing too much – I like the smell of freshly laundered clothes and only tend to wear the same thing a couple of times (if it’s clean) without washing it again (with the exception of jeans). How many times would you wear the same clothes – ie the same work trousers, pjs or t-shirts before washing them again? I ask as a friend rarely washes and never smells.

  • I love putting on clean clothes each day.

  • Usually I only wear clothes once before putting in the wash. Likewise bath towels get only one use before they get washed.

  • I try and get 2 days wear out if my clothes before I put them out for wash. Mostly works

  • mm, 2 kids, means 2 changes of clothes most days.

  • I wash clothes and underwear daily, towels twice a week, bedding weekly. 🙂

  • Socks and undies, underwear in general, changed daily. Clothes changed every 2 to 3 days depending on how dirty they get. Night wear changed once a week. I try to wash once a week, we have tank water so have to be careful. Have you tried deodorant or perfume to give you that fresh clean smell to save on washing

  • Depending on what it is depends on how often I wear before washing. School clothes last 2 wears before washing, work clothes for myself and my husband worn once. Casual items of clothing depend on how long they were worn for but the general rule is 2 to 3 times before washing, undergarments after each use.

  • Everything gets washed after only one wash. Sheets every week and change towels twice a week

  • With my clothes I get away with a few wears but hubby’s need changing daily due to his manliness & forget the kids theirs generally need daily changing. I generally wash every second day

  • With the state of our water supply and electricity use Id suggest to wash as rarely as possible. Do the sniff test, if it doesn’t smell then dont wash it.

  • Max twice.

  • A fresh top every day due to underarm odor, fresh underwear daily. Sheets weekly. Towels weekly.

  • wow it maybe our climate (the tropics) but anything (everything) only gets worn once before it is put through the wash, I literally have never worn anything twice

  • I have 5 children. I wash theirs & our clothes 2 -3 times a week. Depends whether they have school or not in that time.

  • I’m also like Cherz, and change out of good clothes, that may only have a few hours wear at a time, when I get home. That means I can get several wears out of good clothes, if it is in winter, but wash home clothes more frequently. My son’s school shirts usually daily, trousers a couple of wears, depending on what has happened during the school day.

  • UNDERCLOTHING every day everything ese as they get dirty, my husbands shirt everyday, But his black work uniform pants weekly. kids clothes never last loger than a day.

  • Thanks MRSMCD that was an interesting link, once every 6 mths for jeans! I’ve been wearing my work trousers for three days and feeling like I just crawled out of a rubbish tip (it’s all in my head I know! ) just trying to get some balance as one day I did 10 loads of washing and that wasn’t the only washing I did that week! On the flip side my friend will wear her work trousers 5 days running.

  • Anything against my skin I wash daily, jeans, jackets, jumpers, cardigans and anything that is only worn for a short period of time I only wash when it is dirty, stained or smelly. I do enjoy having everything washed, ironed and packed away though, really feels accomplished. but it is also seasonal, in summer I find daily is a necessity.

  • Outer garments usually get worn 2-3 times.

  • Once or twice, Then into the wash
