Hello!

I feel like I have had a much slower metabolism since having children. I’m just not getting the results I used to from healthy eating and exercise.  I know some foods and teas can help but I just don’t know which ones work? Does anyone have any tips on how to boost your metabolism?

  • small meals thoughout the day combined with exercise should help

  • Eating smaller meals more frequently is great but make sure you keep track of what your eating and how much because when eating more frequently its easy to actually overeat and not notice

  • I agree smaller meals instead of large ones!

  • Eat more smaller meals throughout the day instead of larger meals. Your body will learn to keep processing the food all the time, thus increasing metabolism!

  • Unfortunately this also comes along more prevalently as we age

  • Lemon juice in water is meant to kick start the metabolism.

  • get your thyroid levels checked – simple blood test.

  • I sprinkle chilli flakes on most of my dinners and salads as that helps speed up your metabolism.

  • First thing in the morning drink a glass of cold water with some lemon juice in it.

  • I had heard that chillies were good but have no experience myself.

  • Liking all the really good answers

  • thanks for the advise im lacking so will have to try it out

  • Drink green tea, and make sure you always eat breakfast

  • one tablespoon of vinegar and one teaspoon of honey miked in the morning and before bed works really well if you can stand the taste.

  • I have heard eating spicy chillies and curries are supposed to speed it up but I hate spicy food so I don’t know if its true or not.

  • Any of the green teas should be helpful. Sadly it doesn’t get any easier as we get older too.

  • I have found this as well. I have been have doing smaller meals about 5 times a day and have notice a bit of a change.

  • I agree with eating smaller portions, but eat at least 6 times per day, just very small portions.. OR even make a big salad, and eat it through out the day (just pick at it every hour or so.. but never skip meals!

  • Eat smaller amounts more often and also it’s gross but a table spoon of vinegar morning am night

  • Losing weight starts in the kitchen. Make sure you still eat all your meals (don’t starve yourself, that slows your metabolism even more!) but just make them a bit less calorie heavy. If you can be 100% honest and say you’ve been completely healthy and exercising frequently, you may want to try adding in some weight training. It will tone you up and it actually boosts your metabolism for the next 12-24 hours.
