Hello!

Mr 3 uses the toilet at day care 3 days a week. When at home we are in undies (except for bed) but he just wont ask to go to the toilet and persists on doing it in his undies for both number 1 and 2. So I am constantly cleaning up a mess and at my end. I have tried bribes but it is just not working. I don’t want to get cranky at him because I don’t want him to be scared of the toilet. When we are there he is there for ever playing around and jumping about on the seat. Any suggestions much appreciated :). I swear my girl was so much easier!

  • Girls are much easier, just persist with him, he will eventually discover he doesn’t like the feeling in his undies and will use the toilet. Best of luck.

  • We’ve been enjoying the new Oricom smart potty – it offers up a verbal praise reward (in your voice) at the end as well as a song and my kids get a kick out of dancing after a win. Maybe your son will enjoy toilet time at home with something like that. It doesn’t take long for a new habit to take over an old one

  • my boy is just started training, he prefers the potty

  • Ping pong ball in the toilet, make it a game for him to see if he can aim at it and hit it with his pee. That should get his interest in using the toilet.

  • Not sure if you have bought a toilet training story book for him. But there are many out there, for boys or girls. You can maybe get him sitting on there for longer if you read to him and maybe he can learn from the story?
I used to put the potty in the tiled living room and sit next to my kids while they sat in the potty watching a movie or TV shows. Eventually they’d need to go.
