Hello!

For years I have been getting painful and terribly itchy lumps on the sides of my feet and sometimes also on the soles of my feet and I only recently worked out that they are hives. Does anyone else get this problem, what causes it and how do you treat it?

  • If you’re only getting the hives on your feet you must certainly be reacting to something, whether it be shoes or perhaps even a soap you might be using. I’ve dealt with having hives from a very young age, mind you though mine was all over my body including my feet. the most I could suggest to help relieve it is some calamine lotion and some anti-histamine (mostly any that states it has loratidine most common one is claratyne) if that doesn’t help settle it you might need something stronger from your doctor and might be worth getting some allergy testing done… it’s always a good idea to note down anything that you’ve used or eaten or been in contact with when you have a reaction so that it will help you pinpoint what it might be that’s causing it.

  • I suggest you speak to your Doctor. It is usually an allergy or could be that you have eaten too much of something. I got a big one on my knee once which actually burst. when I had eaten too many oranges.
Another thing it might be is pressure from your shoes. They are now making Ladies’ shoes narrower across the toes which could be making them worse. You may be allergic to something the shoes are made of. They are made of a lot of synthetic materials. One brand made my left foot so sore that I had re-broken it and went to the Doctor. I stopped wering those shoes and it was OK. I have to buy mens’ shoes (Sports shoes/sneakers) as ladies made my feet so sore. Mens Shoes are wider across the toes. I also got blisters on the tip of one of my toes. The continual tightness of my work shoes actually caused my second toe on my left foot to bend up at one joint.
