  • maybe the easter bunny!! he’s got a 6 month old brother but he’s bf.
he has chewed through all the teats again! so mad. I think its he likes the feel of the teat.

  • Do you know a newborn baby he can ‘give’ the bottle to? You missed out on him leaving it for Santa.

  • Ok so after going to the MCHN today I’ll give you the advice she told me for my Miss 3.5.
She said to break the teat and make a big deal of the bottle going into the bin. EG..”Oh no the bottle is broken. Bye bye bottle” and put it in the bin. If your child is crying it’s ok to say stuff like “I know you’re sad but bottle was broken.” Offer the milk in the cup but if they don’t want it say “Oh that’s ok. I know you’re sad but if you don’t want to drink the milk that’s fine.” Then take it away.
She said at this age they only need 100ml of milk a day and some cheese and yogurt and that if they stop drinking milk after this it doesn’t matter..they can just get the dairy elsewhere.
My DD also has a dummy still and she said that cutting out the bottle was the 1st thing to focus on.

Not to sure if this will help but just thought I’d let you know what she told me…of course going through it with a screaming 3yo at bedtime isn’t fun so I wish you luck.

  • My only advice is that for some kids it can take time and patience. I would tell him his a big boy now and if he wants some milk he can have a cup of milk before bed. If he refuses just tell him ok then it’s bed time, for the first night or two it may take some time with settling him down to sleep even if you sit with him. After that he may decide ok well I do want that cup of milk after all. Eventually he will forget about wanting a bottle. It is hard work and patience but if your willing to go through a couple of rough nights it will pay off and you will feel a sense of accomplishment for getting through those rough nights together. Good luck with which ever way you face the situation.

  • I have no advice as my 3.5yo daughter still has milk at bedtime in a bottle (and sometimes during the day and night). We went away recently though and forgot her bottle for the 1st night so she had some from a normal water bottle and that was good enough for her. I plan to go shopping with her and buy a special milk cup or similar and go from there. Good luck x
