Hello!

Hey everyone! It’s my daughters first birthday in a couple of months and I would love to start the tradition of baking her cakes! I’m an ok baker but not the best! So I would love some inspiration on designs/recipes!! Also any ideas on 1st birthday parties!

  • I myself have attempted a few of my sons cakes. He’s first birthday theme was wild one theme

  • I am going to do the same
And I am going to use the milk to meals cake recipe ! I think it is under boob to food on tik tok – it uses coconut cream for “icing” so a little bit more nutrient dense for my daughter to smash and have fun with and eat. Then I will make a cake for guests – I am excited to try the Woolworths cake hacks! Where you cut them and ice them. Lazy but effective! I would look at tik tok if you have the app lots of inspo there!

  • Super easy one is kitkat around the sides, smartness or mms on top, then so.e figurines like bluey or whatever and a candle job done. Google bluey kitkat cake.

  • At 1, she won’t be worried, I think she will be more inclined for wanting to get her hands onto the cake.

  • I’d never baked a cake before my first born’s birthday.
I made a chocolate cake decorated with candy.

  • A 1yr old doesn’t really have a clue what birthday cake comes on the table, as long as it tastes good

  • I purchase cake tins for numbers; letters and other themes when on special and have a supply of them. A theme for a birthday party does help with matching food, drink, treats and games.

  • If you have a theme for her birthday a matching cake could work mostly I just came to say how much I love this idea! It’s so special and no matter the cake that is made the memories will last forever xx

  • We have always gone with numbers and simple animals decorated with bright colours and additions.

  • A rainbow birthday cake with different colour layers. Very easy to make!

  • A first cake really just has to be simple. There are some beautiful Unicorn cakes out that are simple to make but pretty and effective. If you google for image you’ll see what I mean, with a pretty rainbow mane. Our kids always loved choosing their own from the Women’s weekly cake cookbook and similar every year.

  • She is only 1 so I reckon go with the good old Cupcakes and you can decorate them and even make them as shape of the number 1 or another character. There are many websites out there that will show you how to do them

  • What does your daughter like? I did something simple and made it rainbow theme for my daughters first birthday. I bought cheap cake mixes from woollies and then added different food colouring to make rainbow colours and then iced it pink and put m&m’s in the middle of the cake so when you cut into it, they all fell a part. I then added some of her favourite characters to it that she could then play with after the party.
