I agree chewing gum is not a natural product to eat and therefor not the most healthy product, however it does have some benefits for your teeth and stimulates digestion. And when you compare it with many unhealthy foods people put in their body, chewing gum isn’t that bad.
Also depends on how it is sweetened. Now a days you can buy Stevia sweetened or Xylotol sweetened chum for example Xylichew, Sweetened with Birch Xylitol, I get it at iHerb.
I have read that over use of the sugar free gum can cause diarrhoea. I chew it regularly and haven’t had an issue. When I went to my GP about bad breath, he recommended I chew gum. It gets the saliva glands going which is essential for healthy mouth.
Yes I heard it is very bad. It can cause tummy aches and bloating (it brings in an excess of swallowed air), therefore causes Irritable gowel syndrome. Gum doesn’t get reed of bad breath. Chewing gum comtains artificial ingredients (sweeteners), and other fake ingredients.
I read an article the other day, which said the old wives tale of swallowing chewing gum, was just that, a tale, it broke down the ingredients, none of which are harmful & its passage through the intestines dissolves it if swallowed.
It’s terrible for you! The ones with sugar rot your teeth as the sugar is on them as you chew and also we know sugar is bad anyway and the artificially flavoured ones contain terrible ingredients! Ditch the gum!
yes I would say yes because of the artificial sweetners also Chewing gum causes you to swallow excess air which can lead to stomach problems. I guess it can be okay in moderation.
I’ve read both good and bad. Good in that you generally do find less bacteria in the mouth after 10 minutes (but this is mainly from the extra salavia rather than the gum) and this can of course help keep teeth healthy. But green tea is meant to be just as good at cleaning teeth! And Bad in that ‘sugar free’ often includes lots of additives that are carcinogenic as well as other ingredients that you might not want that can disrupt hormone balance and immune function. Lots of ways to clean teeth naturally http://readynutrition.com/resources/top-10-foods-that-naturally-clean-teeth_27102011/ without gum.
