Hello!

I hear that giving birth your third time is very fast, anyone have any stories to share?

  • I’ve had mixed results as have my friends. Be prepared for anything!

  • I only had 2.

My first was a 17 hour labor, induced and epidural.

My second, I barely knew I was in labor. Apparently I was having contractions in the morning while walking in Stockland. By night time, the contractions were there but bearable. 1 am and it was time to go to the hospital. I was there for less than 2 hours – from 4 cm to 9cm – then pushed for 10 minutes or less – then baby. =) it was very fast my midwife said.

  • Hi there my first baby took 4 hours and the second 1hour and 17mins then the third was an hour and a half. Not really sure if it gets easy or shorter as my grandmother had 8 kids all with very different times.

  • My third was almost an exact replica of my first. My second was VERY fast and required no intervention for baby. The first and third were both much longer and in the end I needed oxytoxin (to be induced) for both as they weren’t progressing. I found it much easier to cope by the third though

  • My third was exactly the same as my second even the same timing of the day just a few minutes out, 2hrs.

  • My 3rd was my quickest and easiest (2 hours of labour), but she 6 days late, while her older brother and sister were 6 and 7 days early!

  • Not for me. My first was the quickest of my 3. Be ready for anything is my advice!

  • Nope, it was about the same for me.

  • From what I have heard from my friends and family it is generally quicker by the third child but of course every mum and every pregnancy is different!

  • yeah that is right. just be prepared for it and then it is a waiting game. hopefully it is easier for you!

  • My mother had four of us and said all of were similar lengths , maybe sooner than previous , but not to an extreme. I think it is always good to prepare , but unless you have health issues that brings on very fast births, I think it should be prepared just like your previous births so that you are ready whether it will be fast or slow .

  • I think babies tend to come more quickly the more you have but as said in other comments, it is an individual thing. I have only had 2 bubs, my first was born in 6 hours and my second was born in just 3 hours. I personally would have liked them to not have come so quickly! All the best with your pregnancy and delivery.

  • Each of my three were different. First was shortest but that may have been due to the fact I was induced.

  • It is individual and can be slower or faster. Mine have been faster, but friends have been slower. There is no guarantee of subsequent births being faster.

  • Each of my babies was slower and I had four. And their weights did not influence anything either as my third baby was the lightest.
    Sorry I can’t help you.

  • my gf was 35 minutes she said it was harder than a long labour

  • Sometimes 2nd baby is a bit faster, and 3rd one is definitely quicker.
Having said that I had a school friend whose Foster Mum had 4 babies. The more she had the slower her labour was.

  • You know what most likely is going to happen. My third was induced at 38 weeks due to my health problems, three hours later he was here to greet me. A lot quicker then my first who was induced and nearly killed me with blood loss. With number 3 as soon as i had him I wanted my lunch , which they had to find as they had cancelled mine as they thought I would be there longer. The others afterward were easy too.

  • Yep, third one was much faster and easier. You tend to know the whole drill by then and being more relaxed helps with the whole process.

  • yeah it was. i certainly listened to my body though. i always get warned of fast labour due to the fact that my first was quick. 3 hrs. so we got a motel right across from the hospital for a week before bub was due. at the time we lived over an hour away from hospital.
