Hello!

I have had three c sections and it has been one year since my last c section. I still get random pangs of pain along the wound, at least one a day. It is usually after a workout or a lot of walking. Are there any other Mums out there who have had multiple c sections and experience the same thing? Is there anything that can be done to help this problem?

  • It doesn’t sound normal. I’d see a GP or maybe a physio, since it seems to be related to exercise or movement.

  • I would suggest to see doctor as 12 months should be enough to heal? Though I guess depends on your body as well.

  • I thankfully didn’t require a caesarean at all. I would go with previous comments and have it checked out.

  • i had that and had to have it redone. go see your OB or GP

  • I would definitely get it checked by a GP in case there is anything they can suggest to help and to confirm that there is nothing serious wrong. I’d suggest skin cream (to help the external healing and scar tissue that can be uncomfortable on the belly); not working out too hard ( 1 year is still early days in my book, especially after multiple births), or maybe wear a support belt (those bits of wide elastic that go round your belly) during exercise to see if that takes some strain off the area.

  • Ask your doctor, i’m the same i still get pain in mine and it’s been 15 months

  • Sounds like deep, internal damage has been done, causing the pain. I would suggest time, and lots of it, is the only solution. If it’s too worrying though, take yourself off to the Dr and have things confirmed. Best to make sure it’s nothing more sinister

  • See your Doctor if worried or it annoys you, had mine many years ago and still have some irritation.

  • I had a c-section 3 years ago & I find its still numb & occasionally hurts. You have to remember its major surgery and having three there is a large amount of scare tissue. If you feel this pain is out of the ordinary perhaps visit your GP for peace of mind.

  • I had some occassional pain (and itching) for about 2 yrs afterwards. I exercised every day too and I think it can get stretched etc and so this may agitate the scar more but it’s not a health problem as such (well mine wasn’t). Everyone’s body just heals differently but, if it does concern you, get it checked.

  • If you are worried go and see your doctor for peace of mind. Scar tissue tends to be hard and does not stretch with your skin and may give a pulling sensation.

  • I’ve had 2 c sections. After the first I had pain for ages but they put it down to the end of the stitch not done properly. The pain eventually went away. My second one there wasn’t pain after about 3 months. I’d get the dr to check it out though just to make sure it’s all ok.

  • i think don’t workout too hard and definately talk to your doc.

  • Have you talked to your doctor about this? I would get their opinion and get them to have a look and make sure everything is ok.

  • I had an emergency c/s 4 years ago, and for the first 18 months had some pains – especially after exercise like you. Being your third it I’d say it’s more likely you’ll have discomfort longer, but I would get it checked out just in case.
