Hello!

Ok so I was having a think today and wondered, Where does everyone store eggs? Does anyone know where you are meant to store them? I always keep mine in the fridge, but I know at the supermarket they are just on the shelf and also at the egg farm so just wanted to know.

  • In the fridge, especially during summer as they would be a breeding ground for bacteria and food poisoning!!!
    I haven’t seen a supermarket stock them on the shelves in my area, they’re always kept in the chilled section.


  • In the fridge as it’s just easier with storage and keeping them away from the kids

  • In the fridge in the carton is best for eggs, especially in summer.


  • Eggs have a shelf like of about 6 weeks so check the use by date carefully. . In India, and they leave them on the kitchen bench and no one seems to get sick from them. I think it is a personal preference but I keep mine in the fridge.


  • you don’t need to store them in the fridge. We mostly have ours in the fridge as I don’t have room on the bench top for them.

  • They last longer if you keep them in the fridge. You just need to bring them to room temperature if you are baking. All other cooking it doesn’t matter.

  • I keep mine in the fridge and so does our supermarket on the central coast. Just need to take them out anout half hour before using for baking or meringue. Thye keep longer in the fridge.

    At our supermarkets and the fruit and veg shops also I have noticed they have them both in the fridge and on the shelves also…so I’m not sure what the correct place to store them in


  • I put mine in the fridge with the carton they come in. My supermarket has them all stacked in the fridge and the carton they come in says refrigerate to maintain freshness.
