Thanks everyone – took a bit of advice from all of you. Used the clip on koalas, koala on the cake and a few koalas around the room, koala colouring stencils and animal shapes, pass the parcel with caramello koalas and koala toys as prizes

Perhaps you could get your hands on a koala onesy costume and have a responsible friend come dressed up to surprise the birthday person and friends.

For decorations you could have lots of eucalyptus leaves and branches about and a few soft toy koalas; maybe get the packs of 10 clip on koalas that are sometimes sold to tourists so everyone can wear one. For children’s activities, maybe make/provide some masks (or have as craft activity) with koala face and eyes cut out, sellotape a straw so you can hold up mask or have elastic to wear it. Maybe have a soft toy koala that everyone can hold near your eucalypt display and have a photo taken just like at the wildlife park! Play some ‘koala grunting’ music when you want to make a speech to get everyone’s attention!
