I use storage boxes from a cost effective store. I love them to be sorted by colour etc, but that wasn’t practical when my children were youner. Now they are older and will take some time to help sort and pack them away, it works much better.

After my third son and many many lego sets they have now ended up all in big dishes under the beds. I use to have each set in a little dish with the instructions but over time they all kept getting mixed up. So now they are just as happy pulling the big dish out and building their own creations.

Seperate zip lock bags? Cheapest and most affordable way!

If it’s generic blocks I have clear plastic containers separated into colours.
For sets you want to make again put the pieces into clip lock bags and keep in the box with the building manual for easy access.

I did an IKEA haul and got tubs that I could slide under the table or stack somewhere and they get pulled out when in use and the kids always know where they have to be packed up.

I brought some storage boxes from Reject shop.

I tried lots of fancy storage to try to keep sets together, but in the end gave up. We have a few 10L tubs – yes, we have a LOT of Lego – and the kids just toss all the bricks in there. They make a horrible mess when looking for a particular brick, but I figure they’d make a mess no matter what they were doing.

I would suggest storage boxes / containers.

i take one image from each box (or you could foto them) and laminate it. Then all the lego goes in one big lidded crate, with the laminated pics on the top for reminders/inspiration. My boys have about 9 sets, so my problems isnt as dramatic as yours. A similar option would be to divide up the sets so that only 10 sets plus pics are in a lidded container.

Sort into colours in plastic containers. I like the sistema clic lock ones. These can be stacked and stored on a shelf. If there a lot of quite small pieces, they can be sorted by colour in a tackle box.

I had tubs for various sets and then a tub for the mixed/loose bits that we couldn’t find a home for. Labelled, it worked well.

We bought Storage containers from Bunnings. Ones with wheels are great too so they are easy to move..

My daughter has alot of lego too I’ve kept alot in its original boxes with instructions the ones I haven’t are in a storage container I like the ziplock bag idea and storing in container probably do that in the future

Get a heap of resealable bags and put each set into a bag along with the instructions. Then put those bags into a clear tub. Your son could then look at each bag and know which one he wants to make for the day.

Wow what lovely birthday gifts!!! I recently saw the ikea lego storage and while it looked nice it was a lot smaller than I expected from how the online pictures look. Personally, I love using a big storage container.

You could buy containers to keep them separate. My grandson has it all in one tub with instructions in another, small pieces are in another one, which kind of simplifies rebuilds. Hes only 5 so near impossible to get him to keep it all separate

We have heaps of sets, or should I say my husband does. I’ve put them all in zip lock bags and then store them in storage boxes for when my son is older. For the duplo he has now, I use ikea boxes. There are so many different options to choose from.

I have a coffee table that has 2 large drawers, the kids play on the table and when finished just slide the bricks into the drawers.

Depends if you want them just out of the way of in individual sets. I’d say draws if you want them to stay in sets or sort them. Pick the sizes that suit you. Otherwise a Lego drawstring mat.

Ikea, Big W, K-Mart and similar stores have lots of storage solutions for Lego.
