  • I have just switched my son from sandwiches to wraps for school and he loves them. Wraps last a long time without goung stale or mouldy like bread does. There are lots of different flavours too that don’t taste like bread at all. I sometimes give him leftovers like stir fries, quiche or spaghetti Bolognese which he loves eating cold.

  • One of the recipes I came across on here suggested risotto balls – could be an interesting one?

  • Cheese, and cold meat with water biscuits to keep them full is what I do instead of sandwiches

  • Sushi, home made sausage rolls and pies, stir fries, noodles, soups

  • wraps, rolls, satay sticks bento style snack box

  • My kids love dumplings packed in a thermos jar so they’re still hot when they eat them at lunch time. You can buy them or if you can make them yourself so you can control the ingredients. I usually make mine with pork mince, grated carrot and cabbage. They’re also super quick to boil up in the morning.

  • Biscuits and dips, veggie sticks work with dip too.
    Quiches
    Pizzas
    Pin wheels
    Party pies and sausage rolls
    Fruit salad
    Garden salad
    Just for starts

  • Pizza scrolls? Sausage rolls? Quiches? Have you tried a frittata slice, you can pack a heap of veggies into those. Check out boards on Pinterest too for inspiration.

  • My children very rarely have sandwiches in their lunchboxes. They just don’t like them much. So I’ve needed to get creative too. Some of the things I have sent them off with are homemade sushi rolls – a favourite is avocado, tuna and cucumber. RIce paper rolls. Pasta salads (easy to make quickly. Just add a little mayo, peas, chopped celery, cucumber, parsley etc.) Leftover pastas. Dinner leftovers. Baked beans with grated cheese. Mini quiches. Savoury pancakes – I put parsley and cheese in my mix. Vegetables sticks and dips. Boiled eggs. Salads. Fried rice. Rice salad (add a little curry powder, chopped apple, lemon juice, capsicum, celery, sweetcorn.) Tinned sweetcorn or creamed corn. Soups. Zucchini slice, Sausages, roast chicken etc. Buy a wide mouthed thermos to keep things warm. Good luck :)
