Hello!

I’m due with baby number 2 next month and would like some meal ideas or recipes of dinners that are easy to freeze. I’ve heard the usual pasta sauce and lasagne. Keeping in mind we also have a 2 year old. Thanks

  • Kristie Corr’s idea is probably the best. Will cover all ppl in the household. A 2yr old should be almost eating what you eat anyway.

  • Nay Van Helden maybe you can help or get ideas 🙂

  • plus healthy

  • I use to just cook up potato, pumpkin, sweet potato, zucchini, carrott, little broccoli ( not much causes wind) and mash it, then cook rice mix it all together in a BIG batch then depending on age of child, cook up beef mince, chicken mince or veal mince and freeze in portions and I would have 2 weeks worth of dinners, and just grab one out in the morning or night before..

  • Things like zucchini slice and crust less quiche freeze well, and you can also make them in muffin tins for toddler size portions.

  • I wouldn’t be worried about freezing meals so much… But invest in a slow cooker… You can put it on in the morning and it is ready by dinner time… Leftovers from that you could freeze. I cook just about everything in my SC… Pasta dishes, casseroles, chicken kievs, roasts, corned beef, chow mein, and lots more 🙂

  • Head over to mamabake page that’s what they do

  • Following!!!

  • also ive foiund the best containers to freeze in are sistema snap lock or the cheap chinese containers, both of which you can get at wooiles

  • mild curries, soups, lasagne, shepards pie, fish cakes, meat balls, rissoles, homemade pies

  • Shepards pie freezes good I’ve done this a few times now.

  • Mince fry is good with peas but not potatoes easy to make and can be frozen in containers

  • With two children 19 months apart, I find the slow cooker is a great way to cook in bulk with little fuss and then freeze any leftovers.

  • Chili Con carne, Any casserole dish that you can make in the slow cooker making it even easier, Curry

  • My favorites are schnitzels, make a lot one day and freeze them all in portions

  • I often freeze a beef curry that I make. Very easy to make and then you have it there on those days when you really don’t feel like cooking.

  • You can try curries, stir fries, meat dishe and the frozen fish that can be ovened

  • casseroles, slow cooker recipes are good to browse through. shepherds pie, chicken schnitzels can be frozen like all raw meat in portions and you pop it into the oven.

  • Curries (and my daughter loves them too) and you can also do rice separately and freeze. Nearly all slow cooker meals freeze well. I freeze lots of food but I also don’t always reheat in the microwave. I defrost and then cook in the oven for things like veggie bake, rissoles, meatloaf, stews etc. There are also really easy meals like baked potato that you can prepare and freeze topping for (and cheese can also be frozen). My Dad used to make omelette and you can add a lot to those too. Home made pizza is also another good one.
