  • Us mum’s that homeschool can’t understand why anyone would send their precious children to school either Krista Leanne Hansen

  • I would love to do it only because schools can do damage kids believe me when I was school I got picked by both teachers and kids I think homeschooling is a great idea if it’s done right !!!!’

  • Samara Cassidy

  • Don’t do it. Can’t understand why people would even consider it.

  • I have home schooled 5 of my 6, and when he is old enough he too will be home schooled. Wish with all my heart that all parents would consider it!
Yes there are hard days, but on those days, you pack the formal studies away and go outside and play or visit a museum or zoo or something….guess what- they are still learning! And when the books come out again later or the next day thier minds are ready to learn. Special family memories have been made too.
Get to know other people in the community and tap in to thier interests… Wonderful lessons are learned this way..eg my kids liked finding rocks, l met a couple of retired men who just loved fossicking and prospecting. We spent several days at different times and places, and the things that we learned from them we would never learn from a book. Also, it gave them an extra purpose…
The hardest.part is the discipline to sit down and “do school work”, but oh so rewarding when the child grasps a concept, and then turns around and teaches thier sibling how to do the work needed….
Sorry to ramble, my favourite topic!
Keep your kids close, you only have them once, and for a short time. Well worth serious consideration. All the best!

  • My mother home schooled us until she had 3 of us to teach. Then she decided it wasn’t too far into town after all lol. Lots of planning, lots of fun activities and don’t stress about getting it all done in one day (I was a governess for a while years ago). Plenty of people do it, good luck

  • s tough somedays but on the whole it is so rewarding and fun that the bad days don’t count. The flexibility is amazing, having a bad morning meh put things off until later. We incorporate Maths, English and science into cooking, shopping and beach days. We can visit libraries, museums all sorts of activities. Remember your children learn everything form you in their pre school days, you taught them to speak, play, laugh etc There are plenty of support networks out there, plenty of sports and activity days. Enjoy 🙂

  • Sheryl Brown and KristyandPaul McKimmon – might be some helpful tips 🙂

  • It’s hard but has lots of pros

  • Love it, it was the best decision we ever made! People said I was crazy wanting to stay home with my 3 kids and teach them… but hey, I actually like them, so its not so bad 😉

  • My son did distance education for three years and we had great success. I actually found it easier than mainstream as he could do his work at his own pace. See if your state has distance education centre. Victoria has one it is called decv then you are finding or setting the curriculm it is the same work that other children in their year levels are doing. They also have online classes they can attend as well, they also have a teacher for each subject that they can call if they are having trouble with their work and will give them their undivded attention until they are okay with the problem. They still do need to have a routine though. My son used to get a whole weeks work of school work done in two days. Socialisation is also important so make sure they still have activities or sports to do with kids their age. You still have to supervise them and either email or post their work back to their teachers at the end of the week. I also made sure that I still had time to myself so I didnt burn out. I found it great though.

  • your brave. good luck and I hope you get some good advice.

  • I hope you find a solution to your problem

  • PLanning and lots of, Friends have done it with pretty good success but they have a separate room that is only the class room, it helps to have a structured environment that is separate from the rest of the home apparently.

  • Good time management skills and have a possible tutor set up in case you need assistance

  • I think time management is key. I haven’t any experience with it, good luck.

  • I have never done this, but good luck
