Hello!

Please help me – I am trying to organise my pantry and I have tried several times to do this and it starts off great and I feel like I am getting somewhat organised but then it just gets messy again and everything falls on top of everything else and I end up just closing the door and not thinking about it until I need to find something and can’t.

I have bought containers and filled them up and try to organise the pantry in some sort of order and it works for about a week and then somehow it just gets super messy again and I feel like it is so unorganised. What tips or tricks do you have that you would like to share with me to help me tackle this once more?

  • I try not to stock up on too much variety of things and keep it down to the essentials. Apart from being more organised, I find it also saves me money by not spending on things we don’t really need!

  • My trick is to have a container/jar for most things, label them (Kmart sell affordable labels) and also get bigger tubs for all the miscellaneous snack things. I found that the messiest part were the kids’ snacks etc. So I use big tubs to put all those in and it keeps the pantry uncluttered.

  • My pantry was like this. The trick is to be more disciplined. Put things where they need to go, don’t just dump things in there to put away later

  • My pantry gets like this too! Especially when my partner cooks or my kids grab snacks. Nothing is ever put back in the right place.
I really love the turn tables I bought. They save me knocking over bottles when trying to get or see something in the back! Very convenient.

  • Turn tables are a great way to have things neatly packed but easily visible when needed.

  • I feel like this also happens to me, it’s hard wen you are time poor and in a rush, maybe have once a week where you organise it again

  • That is me with most cupboards in my house!! I find that trying different methods or groupings help. Eventually I find one that makes sense and becomes easier to keep on top of

  • I try to put things that I don’t use often or have a longer shelf life higher in the pantry and the things I use more often or those that have to be used first on eye level shelf and I use clear containers from Kmart that I can easily see the contents.

  • I have all canisters with open contents in the cupboards above my bench area – where i can reach up and get them easily as I cook. Spices in draws near the stove top. All opened items in cupboards near where I use them (cereal, tea, coffe). Biscuits in the biscuit barrel. The pantry is only for unopened items – extra flour, sugar, cans, etc.

  • When you put things back in the right place you actually never have to tidy

  • We use Tupperware modullar mates, I have also been looking at getting some pull out shelving systems on runners, so that I can see everything in a line. If you put things back as you go, it’s the only way to keep it tidy. Admittedly, this can be hard without the right equipment.

  • I agree with the comments about being disciplined and returning everything to the right place. In the end it does save time and sanity.

  • The only way your pantry will stay organised is if you are strict with yourself. Once you have made a place for something, always put it back there once you have finished using it. After a while you will get into that routine and you will wonder why it used to seem so hard. Good luck.

  • I understand your frustration, but don’t worry, with some adjustments and new strategies, you can get your pantry organised and maintain it that way. Here are some tips and tricks to help you tackle your pantry organisation:
    1. Adjust your container strategy: If your containers aren’t working for you, consider different types or sizes. Utilise a combination of clear containers, baskets, bins, and shelves to keep items organised and accessible.
    2. Create zones: Organise your pantry by creating zones for different types of items. For example, have a baking zone, a canned goods zone, a snack zone, etc. This will make it easier to find what you need.
    3. Practice FIFO (First In, First Out): When restocking items, make sure to place new items behind older ones so that you use up the older items first. This can prevent items from expiring and cluttering up your pantry.
4.Get everyone involved: Enlist the help of your family members to maintain pantry organisation. Assign specific tasks or zones to each person to ensure that everyone contributes to keeping it organised.

By implementing these tips and making small adjustments to your current system, you’ll be able to tackle your pantry organisation and maintain a clutter-free space. Good luck!

  • Iit sounds like you have kids lol… no seriously my pantry is the same.. The labelled baskets help a bit but honestly as soon as the kids get in there it just turns to custard..

  • You have to be strict on yourself about keeping it tidy, otherwise it snowballs into chaos again. Group similar things together, don’t overcrowd the centre.

  • We organise our pantry according to products and most used and always return items to the same spot. We always tidy the pantry as part of the daily kitchen cleaning routine.

  • I think the key is as well is to keepthings tidy. Take the time to pack things neatly away after doing groceries and after the use of items

  • I don’t really have a system. I just put things in the same place so that when I’m looking for something I know where it is and when I’m restocking, I know where to put everything. I hope that makes sense.

  • Clear containers help a lot as you can see what’s running low. Label them all. Put the things you use most in the most accessible place.
