  • I absolutely love some of the platters that you can get catered or if you want to save money and have a bit of creative flair you could make them yourself. But they have a great variety and can look and taste amazing!

  • A nice quiche or mini quiche’s are great.
The old butterfly cupcakes are also great and yum.

  • Jelly cups, fairy bread, party pies and sausage rolls, cheerios, and some chips and lollies is what I usually put out for parties :-) oh and a cheese platter with kabana ect… For the adults :-)

  • great ideas, red frankfurts for the kidies!

  • I have say Chocolate Crackles! I loved them when I was a kid and I still love them. They’re easy to make – in fact, you could get the kids to make them!

  • Cupcakes with white icing dipped in jelly crystals, they look awesome!
Chocolate spiders with peanut butter, chocolate and change noodles

  • Home made mini quiches and sausage rolls are always a favourite.

  • Whatever you make, make it into mini size or bite size.
    People love itty bitty pieces.
Things that are easy and look gorgeous little :- meatballs, sausage rolls, layer sandwiches (crusts off) If you bake, slices are pretty easy and can be cut into little pieces, meringues tiny are adorable.

  • easy chicken sausage rolls….

1 pack chicken mince (i think its 500g from woollworths)
1 squeezy herb mix from the fruit and veg section … thai mix
    1 spoon crushed garlic
    1 cup frozen corn kernals
    puff pastry
    milk for on top

mix the chicken and garlic and thai mix and corn together…. you can at this point add grated carrot/ spring onion or anything else you like. spoon onto one edge of the pastry, then roll over to half way so it forms a long roll. cut to desired amount and continue until you finish the mix. brush the top of the sausage rolls with milk. put it into a 180 deg oven and cook until browned. serve with sweet chilli sauce….

alternativly you could do the mince with an egg and forgo the pastry… making meatballs instead xxxx

  • no answer from me but thanks for asking and to mums who have answered

  • Kmart sells chocolate fountains for only $12 these days, skewers of fruit and marshmallows is so popular with adults and kids alike

  • Fairy bread, cut out in a shape that matches theme with cookie cutter and you can use coloured sugar rather then hundreds and thousands
Tiny teddys in Milky Way cars
Tea cup and saucers, use tic toc biscuits, marshmallows, musks and freckles
    Jelly slice
Coconut ice in a colour that you like
Frog in a pond, freddo in cup of jelly

  • I love making home made sausage rolls. They are always a bit hit with the adults and the kids!

  • I’d highly recommend a cob loaf, a cheese and bacon one with a bit of onion really hits the spot. I’ve yet to have a party where there is any cob left!

  • Celebration cornet cake

These cup coronet cupcakes are baked in ice cream cones – like magic!
    Ingredients
    1 egg
    2 tbsp vegetable oil
    2 tbsp milk
    ½ tsp vanilla extract
    12 fresh raspberries
    60g/2oz self-raising flour
    1 tbsp caster sugar
    3 flat-bottomed ice cream cones
    Preparation method
Wash your hands and put on an apron. Weigh and measure all the ingredients. Ask a grown-up to preheat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas 5.
Break the egg gently into a cup. Then separate the egg by making a claw shape with one hand and hold it over a bowl. Then pour the whole egg into your hand and catch the yolk, letting the white drip down into the bowl. (You can put the yolk aside for another recipe.)
Whisk the egg white with a fork to make some bubbles. Add the oil and milk and mix again. Add the vanilla extract.
Take six raspberries and put them to one side. Put the remaining raspberries into the egg white mixture – you can crush them a little to make the mixture go pink.
In another mixing bowl, stir together the self-raising flour and sugar.
Tip the wet ingredients into the flour mixture and stir until completely mixed. The mixture will be quite wet.
Put the ice cream cones into a 500g loaf tin so they stand up straight. Add a raspberry to the bottom of each cornet. Divide the cake batter equally among the ice cream cones using two spoons – one to scoop it up and one to push it in. Now add one raspberry on the top of each as decoration. Ask a grown-up to put them in the oven for 20-25 minutes. Leave to cool. Serve the cakes with extra fresh raspberries.

  • The 4 Ingredients series of cook books are great for things like this and sometimes it is not only the food, but the way you present it that makes it that bit more special.
Mini Voluvonts are great and you can do all different fillings and they can be prepared in advance and just heated when needed.
Pinwheels made with puff pastry spread with a variety of fillings and then rolled up and cut in slices before cooking. You can also do these as twists by cutting the pastry in strips twisting and then sprinkling with finely grated hard cheeses and poppy or sesame seeds.

  • Raspberry and Brie triangles.
Roll up a slice of Brie with a couple of raspberries, small sprinkle of sugar in filo pastry then bake. Yum

  • For dessert you could make mini cheese cakes in patty pans or any of a number of different slices which can be made ahead of time.

  • Dip in a Cob loaf – spinach (frozen which I heat in saucepan), spring veg soup mix and sour cream.
Mini pizzas – use pitta, pocket or other flat round bread as base cover in tomato passata, oregano, salt/pepper and a variety of toppings.
Rice paper rolls – supposed to be easy to make and yum with dipping sauce. been meaning to try them for ages.
Deviled eggs – never made them, but sure have eaten them.
    Roasted and spiced nuts
Chicken wings – marinate in soy sauce, fresh garlic (just peeled and crushed with the side of a knife) and a little oil. Cook in oven until skin is crispy about 45min. I turn once during cooking.
Fruit with dip – Dip is whipped thicken cream mixed with strawberry (or any) yogurt to taste.
Pineapple triangles sprinkled with mint sugar (I think Jamie Oliver recipe) Bash fresh mint leaves with sugar. Can also do a chocolate dipping sauce is yum.
Hope this helps. Could keep going, but not sure if you like any of these or not.

  • Are we talking about children, adults or both. Allow for a choice of savoury and sweet foods.
Check if there are any dietary requirements/allergies etc. It is embarrassing to go to a party and not be able to eat the food provided. It is surprising the number of adults and children who suffer from Coelic Disease ( I know one adult who gets ill even if there is cross-contamination – becomes ill for about a week) or some who are gluten intolerant and get quite sick too. Others may be allergic to fish, nuts or eggs etc. A person allergic to nuts, especially peanuts can actually stop breathing if they eat or just come into contact with them in any way. You don’t know until the first time it happens. You don’t want to be responsible for a guest’s illness. Even salad dressings can be a problem. Grain products including oats as they have a protein similar to that in other grains. Even some lollies, chocolate etc have gluten in them. I find it quite difficult to prepare food for a relative of mine. Goo luck with your party
