Hello!

I am 7 weeks pregnant and have a weird taste in my mouth.
It lasts all day.
Is there anyone else who has experienced this?
What tricks can i try to get rid of it.
Will it last the whole pregnancy?

  • I never got this but I did read about it. I think like most other pregnancy symptoms, you can’t get rid of it. Good luck.

  • When I was pregnant with my second I had a metallic taste in my mouth all day for several months, when it hit second trimester it went away. I really could not combat it, good luck, it wont last.

  • It will be different with everyone and every pregnancy. But yes, it can last all pregnancy and you can try get rid of it with anything that has a strong taste. Although this isn’t always successful.

  • tell your doc. i have heard this happen to a lot of people and it didn’t seem like a big deal. But tell your doc and make sure that you are taking vitamins for pregnancy. i used elevit

  • I had a strange metallic taste for most of my first trimester and found eating or drinking orange juice got rid of it for a short time.

  • Thanks fot for the responses..I am going through alot of chewing gum! Lol.
Might give fruit tingles a try. I think they are meant to be good for heart burn as well!

  • I did experience a metallic taste during my pregnancies & my taste wasn’t that great, I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about but perhaps speak to doctor

  • Everything comes to an end, and before you know if you’ll be back to normal. My nose couldn’t stand the smell of chicken, and like many posts already I had many metallic tastes in my mouth from drinking just water. I flavoured the water.

  • Yes I too had metallic taste. It did go away.

  • I had a weird metallic taste in my mouth for a few weeks, it goes away by itself. I used chewing gum and mints to help.

  • I remember when I was pregnant I had a rotten egg kind of taste in my mouth. I tried everything to get rid of it but it just wouldn’t go!
It didn’t last and there was nothing wrong with either me or baby.
Hope yours is just as uneventful as mine was.

  • Like lots of the other moms I had a metallic taste. It was horrible and did go away about half way through my pregnancies. Sounds normal if so many of us experienced it.Hope you get some relief soon.

  • I remember a metallic taste during my first pregnancy. I sucked on fruit tingles most of the first 12 weeks to get rid of the taste.

  • Everything always tasted odd! It does disappear eventually!

  • Interesting ..I did not have this but am loving all the responses. Hope it disappears soon and wishing you well.

  • I had a horrible metallic taste for 2 pregnancies, but not the other two. Often when I was a bit dehydrated. I found a glass of milk or milo helped a bit.

  • I have never heard of this! I had 4 children and did not experience this at all. I was lucky I guess.

  • Yes, a weird ‘metallic’ taste (a bit like blood) was a first sign of pregnancy for me each time. It soon went though. I found a glass of milk would help get rid of it.

  • I used to get a metallic taste in my mouth. I think it’s fairly common and nothing to worry about.

  • It should not last the whole pregnancy, but talk to your gp as it could be jndicitave of something you are lacking in your diet
