Hello!

I am looking for a hair salon in Sydney that can do children’s hair cuts. My son is 11 months old and doesn’t sit still…and is in desperate need of a hair cut. Can anyone recommend a suitable place in Sydney he can have it done?

  • My friend took her son to Kidz Litz and loves it. They have car and plane chairs and the kids got to watch their favourite tv shows. As for my son, it doesn’t matter where I have his hair cut. He likes to sit on my lap (also he is calmer that way). So which ever place I take him, he will always end up with a really nice cut.

  • Ask around your local area and try and find a hairdresser who is a mum working from home. They are usually great with kids as they have their own and know all the tricks of keeping them still. Kids always do things better for other people too. It is also a fantastic way to help mums who are getting back into their work. I always found the bribe of a lollypop helped too.

  • JUST CUTS have always been good because they mainly only do cuts so they are fast and efficient.

  • I’d source out a few local ones, go and talk to them before you decide. You’ll know if they suit or not 🙂

  • Just cuts have DVDs for kids this need a little distraction.

  • You could always do it yourself while he’s asleep!

  • Don’t know about any places near you, BUT my hairdresser had a fantastic way of cutting madam’s hair – she told us to go grab a shopping trolley ( she is in a mall with a supermarket so easy to do!) She sat madam in the kids seat, placed the trolley so she could not see herself in the mirror, and madam sat still for the whole time!

  • I cut my kids hair I got some clippers with larger number for longer cute we do a #9 all over and it is great

  • Usually just take my kids to just cuts, they re good with them and usually have a DVD player to distract them. I have also found when they re really young it helps if you sit them on your lap.

  • I am interested to hear good places too! Thank you for sharing.

  • Do or Dye at Dulwich Hill are very good 🙂

  • oh no,,if my son is dis age,no way in da world i wud allw any1 to cut his/her hair…i must be crazy!!!!

  • Just Cuts or somewhere else that is cheap!

Have them put a gown on you then sit your child on your lap… You can entertain your child with a spray bottle or a DVD most places have a portable one for kids or just playing with a couple of favourite toys.

Remember, there is only a week between a good and a bad haircut so don’t stress too much, just let it be fun!

  • Went to Just Cuts at Castle Towers for my dd first cut. They were terrific. Very patient and all te distractions covered.

  • I love Kidz Lidz. There’s one in Randwick and one in Rose Bay.
The kids sit in planes or cars and there’s an iPad streaming ABC2 in front of them to keep them occupied. Tell them it’s your first haircut and they’ll get a lock of the hair attached to a certificate and a balloon. It’s great. The girls get their hair braided afterwards and sparkly things put in their hair for no charge if you want them. Around $30 a pop and you can book online.

  • Hideaway at Greenacre. She is brilliant took our children to her. .. Kid friendly .. Has all the time in the world

  • Not sure if you have Stefans salons there but I believe that if you mention that its their first hair cut then its free.

  • I don’t live in Sydney, but I can also say Just Cuts… My daughter’s first hair cut was done in Toowoomba and they had a DVD player and their first hair cut is free (and they put it in an envelope as a keep sake!)

  • When you find somewhere, leave them a review at http://www.salonreview.com.au so that other mum’s can find out the same info you are after. 🙂
