  • Yogurt with fruit toppings are really popular at our school. Also wraps with chicken or ham and salad, and muffins.

  • Cut up oranges into quarters and freeze them they make a great sweet treat and perfect for hot days Fruit salad in cups. if you look up menu’s for other schools that have already done this, it will also help you out.

  • Our canteen do (and they are very popular) nachos, vietnamese spring rolls, tandoori chicken wraps and sweet chilli wraps. These are on top of the usual salad platters, salad rolls and salad sandwiches (with a choice of ham, chicken or tuna). We will also be starting home made pizzas for the winter term.

We also serve chicken drummies, home made pizza roundabouts (hamburger bun, tomato sauce and toppings) and pikelets for recess. Because of the thermomix we now have we also do fruit smoothies.

  • Boiled eggs , cheese and crackers lots of fruit and salads with the option of toasted sandwiches eg ham and cheese.

  • fresh cut up fruit salad in a small container, chicken and salad, ham and salad in containers, low fat cheese, wraps, mineral water, sushi, other ideas/guidelines will be in the Health Dept guide for school canteens, see DonnaMaree7’s answer. Suppliers now offer low fat alternatives in their product ranges especially for school canteens.
