I listen to the news on the radio in the car. Personally I think it’s important to know what’s happening in our country and in the world. Even at school our kids are encouraged to follow and watch the news on their level. You could watch News for Kids instead of the normal news, it’s less negative.
We eat dinner at 6pm so my children don’t watch the news. If there is something happening that I think there might be talk about at school I will tell the. The basic details.
I generally don’t watch the news because most of the stories are just for ratings and they manipulate the truth to what they think would make the best story. I see highlights on facebook but other than that don’t bother.
I have similar feelings. Our local news seems to go out of its way to have a good news story every night, they’re quite enjoyable, but don’t outweigh the bad by a long shot
The news can be negative and the key is to watch it once and then move on. I do like to stay informed, but not dwell on the negatives. Also, realising that media does focus on the negatives and not the positives keeps it in perspective.
