Hello!

I’d love some advice/opinions on the contraceptive pill called Yaz Flex. I’ve recently been prescribed this pill after years on Diane. I’ve since heard some alarming side effects caused by Yaz such as stroke and heart attack and wanted to know if anyone has experienced or heard the same. What are some side effects of the contraceptive pill?

  • For me personally i got really bad headaches on this pill

  • There are heaps of side effects some common, some rare. While on Yaz I had pregnancy type symptoms such as nausea and vomiting. I also got migraines. Some people put on weight with pill and some don’t. You just need to try and see what your body does. Did you have problems with your usual pill? I tried the pill, depo provera and the mirena but had to stop each and just use condoms and abstinence in the end because my body was clearly to sensitive to all the contraception. When I was on the depo I vomited for 12 months straight even though I stopped after 3 injections. Its side effects lasted 12 months post stopping. I had migraines, excessive vomiting and couldn’t lose any weight. I looked like a big puffed up balloon- my back and face and stomach were all bloated and puffy… My wedding dress had to be altered because of it all and no amount of exercise or diets or healthy eating would budge the swelling/puffiness/weight. I had the mirena removed after 1 and a half months as bad migraines, swollen belly (looked really pregnant) vomiting, feeling like I was going to pass out every day, extreme dizziness and I also felt suicidal and had bad mood swings- another charming symptom of the contraception as I found out. I will be having my tubes tied after this baby (my third) at 27 years of age.

  • Yes – my sister-in-law has just been taken off this pill due to really bad migraines that she gets while taking it. Her doctor is also concerned as her blood pressure is up. With the headaches and high blood pressure, her doctor is worried about of the possibility of her having a stroke.

  • I have not heard of all these names for pills. I had 3 children at 22 yrs of age, tubes tied at 27 years of age. I fell pregnant when I lost my virginity at 18, had 3 children by the time I was 22. I fell pregnant with my 3rd whilst on the pill (bout of gastro) fertile I am. I have had depo provera, have had an IUD (awful infections) & had tubes tied at 27 years of age. As for weight gain when on the pill, it is very little. Good luck hun 🙂

  • I was getting migraines that made be blind in one eye and were so very painful it took nearly a yr before a dr finally worked out it was the pill once off them I have never had another episode

  • I developed cysts on my ovaries while taking the pill.. 6 months after stopping them, there was no more cysts..

  • levlen ed is what ive been on for years, no side effects to date.

  • I’ve been on levlen for years and have had no problems and no side effects whatsoever! My twin sister on the other hand has had trouble and has had to switch brands as wasn’t suiting her as gave her side effects, (abnormal periods, cramps, nausea) she has now found one that suits her.

  • The only side effect I’ve had from the pill was some weight gain, and I still can’t say if it was the pill or just my eating habits..lol

  • I was on Levlen and the only side effect I had was Gaining weight around my Mid Section

  • Your doctor should be able to go through your family history and see if you are at an extended risk of side effects.

  • I think It’s actually quite scary reading some of the replies here.

  • I’ve had no problems with yaz. Well except for the price! Listen to what your doc has to say, he always gives the best advice

  • Google the aide effects for that one and also your last pill maybe they listed some pretty bad side effects too. Also just on the today tonight website as about 4 months ago they listed the really bad pills you shouldn’t take

  • After what Kayla said about death I wouldn’t take it either…

  • I have been on various pill from the age of 13 due to unbearable period pain. I’m now 31 and have just come of Yasmin to start trying for a baby. I spent 6 years on Yasmin and had no problems and no side effects at all. I think all pills affect each individual differently so it’s really a good idea to speak with your doctor and maybe go for a bit of trial and error.
If you’re concerned about the latest information regarding Yaz/Yasmin, it may be best just to speak with your GP and change pills just to give you peace of mind.

  • Wow, reading some of these replies has been interesting.

  • I’ve been on the contraceptive pill for 16 years (except while pregnant) and I’ve never had any side effects. The only one I’ve ever been on is called Trifeme 28

  • Be careful of generic brands – I had a bad reaction. Up all night throwing up from it. A nurse told me it could just be the different preservatives they use.

  • I haven’t had any side effects from it at all, I think that is worst case!
