Hello!

I’d love some advice/opinions on the contraceptive pill called Yaz Flex. I’ve recently been prescribed this pill after years on Diane. I’ve since heard some alarming side effects caused by Yaz such as stroke and heart attack and wanted to know if anyone has experienced or heard the same. What are some side effects of the contraceptive pill?

  • I haven’t experienced side effects quite that severe but I do get nasty side effects from hormonal birth control and won’t touch any of them. A good friend also got DVT when she was on the pill along with a raft of other side effects, her doctor told her to use alternative forms of birth control.

  • DONT TAKE IT!!! One big side effect is death they are trying to get it off the market

  • Diane is actually dangerous and now being banned in Europe. Women who take it are dying due to blood clots. I’ve been on Diane for years and always had chest pain… I’m so glad nothing happened to me. Maybe research some more and ask another GP for a second opinion?

  • I was on qlaira it was awesome….. the only side effect for me was in my wallet

  • The bigger question is why are you changing pills, are you unhappy with Diane? Certainly a lot cheaper, and it’s been around longer.

  • There has been a class action in the USA due to misleading advertising. All combined pills are associated with blood clots, mood effects and stroke in susceptible people, the newer progesterones-of which there are many- all have a higher incidence of blood clotting BUT the overall risk to yourself depends on your personal risk factors-age,smoking,blood pressure, family history etc. NO combined pill or any contraceptive pill has ever caused infertility, the problem that arises is that it can mask underlying problems, like PCOS. Where are you? Check out your local family planning service. Read up on http://www.fpwa.org.au. Good luck, I hope you find the right one.

  • Isn’t there a class action in America and maybe AUS over the side effects it has caused

  • I currently have a friend in hospital with blood clots in the lungs because of this. Don’t take it.

  • Talk to your doctor about your concerns. I believe there is side effects for any contraception like the pill.

  • I was on depo provera injection and near fatal blood clots twice

  • I use microgronam amazing but expensive

  • It’s band in some countries now like Japan and France. Caused blood clots, made some ppl unable to have kids and even deaths. Both Yasmin and Diane, sorry for spelling.

  • I believe you are at greatest risk for stroke and heart attack if you have family history of it. Which your doctor should have asked before prescribing it! Even without the history I’d still personally stay away from Yaz.

  • every contraceptive pill has side effects especially blood clots

  • Diane can cause sterility in some women. I found Marvelon quite good as I had depression and some pills can exasperate that.

  • I was on Yasmin for 5 months & stopped taking it as it was a trigger for my migranes…. not long after stopping the news about Yasmin n Yaz came out about severe medical issues. Glad I stopped

  • There is currently a class action being undertaken against the manufacturers of Yaz and Yasmin. Apparently they have a higher rate of blood clots. See http://mobile.news.com.au/lifestyle/health-fitness/aussie-women-to-take-on-drug-giant/story-fneuzlbd-122669899282 for a recent article.i was on it and the risks outweighed the benefits. It’s an IUD for me!

  • Had serious problems with Yaz. Blood clots, depression etc. Looked it up and it has been linked to some pretty serious side effects, ie death!! I stopped taking it. Feel fantastic now.

  • I took levelen Ed for years before I was put on Dianne for my adult acne – Dianne had been replaced by Brenda which I don’t think works quite as well with the acne – a friend of mine suggested quillara but I’d rather stick with what I know – all “pills” have side effects and of course it’s best,if you can , to go el natural, but it’s a personal choice and one you should discuss with your doctor 🙂

  • I haven’t been able to handle any other pill. All the others have made me nauseous and made my periods crazy. I really don’t want to have to go through the whole process of finding a pill again. Stuffs me around. Yaz also helps with acne. My face has cleared up amazingly well.
