  • I always use fabric softener, I’ll hang on the line to dry and then zap them in the dryer for the shortest cycle

  • I think it makes a huge difference when you iron them after they dried 🙂

  • Drying them in the dryer they are soft and fluffy!

  • I use fabric softener in the wash and try to dry them outside on a windy day. They’re lovely and soft this way and tend to stay like it

  • last five minutes in the dryer… fail safe!

  • Buy a bottle of fabric softener at the supermarkets. That is what it is used for .

  • You are suppose to wash them in fabric softener on the second rinse , but I never do . I find if you buy good quality cotton towels they tend to still stay soft after various washes, but if it is the from cheap material , they will go stiff after the first wash . I’ve been lucky no one cares much about the towels so never had any complaints .

  • Despite that it says not too – I use softener

  • Using a fabric softener & using a clothes dryer keeps them softest.

  • I use fabric softener in the wash. And for extra softness, I like to hang them on the line on a windy day….preferably with sunshine for freshness. Mmmmmm, fresh cleaned washing!

  • I found a dryer made them soft if using fabric softener in the wash.. but I don’t own one of those lol. So when I’m folding, I flick and rough the towels up a little. Sunshine directly on them stiffens them a little too.

  • Take them off the line when they’re nearly dry and finish off in the dryer.

  • I always thought you should not use fabric softener for towels. Dryer works besy, however GP once told me that scratchy towels are better for your skin health. Food for thought.

  • I use vinegar instead of fabric softener also, but I use this with all my washing not just towels to help with allergies and eczema. I do find if I pop the towels in the dryer they age generally softer than line.

  • I use Cuddly sensitive on our towels. Dry them half on the line and finish them off in the dryer. They are so much softer that way 🙂

  • I wash all my towels and sheets using soap nuts rather than commercial powders. Your towels will never be softer and if you need them to smell pretty just add a couple of drops of an essential oil 🙂

  • yeah i use fabric softener and wash on cold and hang them in the shade. good quality towels are also the key

  • I recently found how to “recharge your towels” on Facebook and used it and it worked well. I dry mine on the line on a sunny, breezy day and get them in as soon as they were dry (so they don’t get that ‘crispy’ feeling). I occasionally finish mine off in the dryer in the cooler months and that helps them feel fluffier too.

  • Rather than dry them fully in the dryer I put them on the line & finish them off in the dryer with a fluffy sheet which softens them & they smell nice too.

  • I think the dryer works wonders however, can be rather expensive on the electricity bill
