First of all I would talk with the neighbours and explain their cat doesn’t have permission to enter your garden, with other words they have to keep their cat away.

If the animal control office is not helpful, contact your local elected city or county officials and ask for their help.

You may have a feral cat in the neighbourhood. For some reason we get a lot of cat fights in our area and they wake everyone up in the night because they are so loud and you can hear them attacking each other . A friend of mine has 4 cats so cant understand this at all as they are so quiet and friendly .

Try spray them with water, so enough they should get the point

This is my opinion only, and I am not judging but … Keep your cats inside. I dont believe cats should be outside endangering the lives of small wildlife.

This would annoy me – why should you have to be out of pocket and go to the trouble to find a solution to something your neighbour should be responsible for.

Have you spoken to your neighbour about this? I’d find out what your council regulations are on cats and take it from there.

We have used some gels / crystals that keep cats away. Used them near boundaries. they didn’t seem to affect our cat. Maybe harder on an acre – a lot of boundary to cover. We also splash a bit of water towards the unwanted visitor

I think if there is a curfew you are well within your rights to set a cat trap – perhaps not particularly neighbourly though

Pepper (a lot of it) on your boundaries may work, or an ultrasonic device that is used as a fix deterrent by some people should do the trick. It’s either that or make your cats “inside only” cats. Soaking the cat with a hose or water pistol would work but obviously it only works if you’re there when the cat comes into your yard.

load a high powered water pistol with water and some white pepper, the pepper will not hurt the cat in any way, just annoy the buggery out of it when it has to clean it off, and will remember this is what it gets when it comes on your property and avoid it.

cayenne pepper on the fence line works for a lot of animal problems

Your vet may have some advice. I wonder if putting pepper or citronella around your fence line might deter them from entering your property.

Pepper worked for us, we had a cat that used to harass ours cats and pepper worked for us. It took a little while and a lot of black pepper though.

Thank you everyone for your input. This cat is so quick you only get to see the back of it. Trying the pepper thing. LOL might keep my cats in the small yard of our acre property

I have an atomiser bottle ready at the door set at a single shot of water to spray at any stray cats. Only problem is you have to be there to catch them in the act. Have heard that citrus peel is meant to be a cat deterrent but I’ve got a backyard with quite a few citrus trees and my cats climb those trees!
Get a dog (not really but if you could ‘borrow’ one it might help). Maybe a recording of a dog barking might work.

Sprinkle pepper around the fence line. They hate it. Not only will it keep your cats in but it will keep stray cats out

I second spraying it with water, also have a chat to your neighbours about the problem.

You try to trap it in a cage and take it to the pound cause gosh it could be a feral.
