Advice needed, please…
I am a single mother of a girl who is just over 4.5 y.o.
The only permanent father figure in her life is my dad (who she in confusion now calls Daddy as it sounds similar to grandpa in our language). HERE IS MY PROBLEM:
She is very very social, establishes contact with anyone very easily, and of course, this has another side to it.
First of all, I am paranoid about predators and how easy it is for anyone to befriend her in a few moments of chatting and then she will do whatever they say… She adores older kids and grown men…
Also, some people don’t LIKE her getting to close to them and physically touching them, or trying to jump on them…
Today in the pool she was all over a girl who looked about 6-7… the girl was so shocked that she complained to her dad that my girl is ‘touching and bothering’ her… I had to pull my child away and have a talk with her… yet again.
We have spoken about ‘stranger danger’, ‘tricky people’, ‘personal space’ and ‘privacy’… quite a few times. It’s not sinking in.
I don’t want my girl to become distant and cold with people, I really love her kind social nature. But how do I tone it down? She is so clingy and so ‘sticky’ with older kids and adults… HELP!
