Hello!

When things go wrong I am still struggling to keep it all together. Some days, and even weeks can be amazing, and then others I can fall to pieces. I have started seeing a therapist finally after being shunted from one to another and finding lose ends, and I will be starting a group therapy soon as well. I am just wondering if any other mummas can relate, if you had any advice to help me in the mean time. Strategies for coping and helping to move forward. Thank you :-)

  • I have two kids with special needs. Another thing I have been doing since one of my kids started to escalate in 2018 is writing daily a report. Initially I started doing it in the case child protection would get involved as we had all kind of incidents with an aspect of danger, however writing daily a report had a calming effect on myself as well. Paper is patient, more patient than any human person could possibly be….cause in the end of the day who would like to hear day in day out dramas about the same person again and again ?
When things get too much, maybe journaling would help. Try it, paper is patient !

  • Good on you for seeking help ! I take it one day at the time and make sure to take a deep breath when the load is heavy, also sharing with my hub or a friend definitely helps. Dare to lean on other people and ask help where you need it (also from family & friends)

  • I think just reminding yourself that not every day is a bad day, or it’s just a bad day, not a bad week. It all helps

  • You are not alone. I think we all feel overwhelmed at times. Sometimes I tell myself it will get better, and that helps, and other times I just soldier on. I wish you well.

  • Take it one day at a time and continue to seek help. You are not alone in this – we all have times when we feel overwhelmed.

  • Hope all is well! Really interesting reading the comments on this!

  • talk and talk and make people listen! you need to vent and chat to an adult

  • you need a break and time to de-stress

  • A little thing to help I find is daily affirmations. Easy to do and just a little jolt of putting good intentions out there.

  • I can relate completely and am on a path to try and feel better too

  • just try and stay positive and remember your not the only person who feels this way

  • You need to remember that even mother’s are human and it is normal to have ups and down in your moods. It is great that you have taken the step of going to the therapist to help controlling these feelings. It will take time to work through things with your therapist, don’t be too hard on yourself when you are feeling like you are falling to pieces. Sounds like you need to relax a bit!

  • do go for mother’s group and seek some help

  • there are some good comments here

  • goodluck hope things work out for you

  • Goodluck with your trials, it is hard to keep it together at times, you sound like your on the right track and getting help though, which is the right thing to do

  • Yes, can totally relate.

I have found that sometimes, I could never predict how my week, day and even hour was going to end up. Sometimes I am on top of the world and the best mother ever – other days I come crashing down.

Fantastic that you have sought out professional help as I feel that really does make a difference as does a lot of physical care – trying to get to bed before 10pm, eating lots of fresh fruit and vege’s and really trying to avoid that quick pick-me-up in the form of chocolate (of which I am so guilty of!). Try and find a great multivitamin that will work for you, and getting outside and walking or exercising even with baby! Slap on a baby carrier and breathe in some fresh air. x

  • i think even mums been there it is a struggle and some days you look back and wonder how you did it all .My main problem was the lack of sleep that made everything seem worse than what it was. Try to get as much sleep as you can.Walk enjoy excersise and dont sit home and feel depressed get out join a playgroup or kindy gym. I found after i had my son i was so depressed and stay home it wasnt until i went put and visited places that i felt heaps better.

  • I really believe waking up with a positive mind helps. Try and get a good nights sleep (I know it’s hard with kids).
Wake up and try and have things you need to achieve that day. Realistic goals, could be related to housework, activities with the kids or even running errands. That way each day gives you a sense of achievement and you don’t feel so hopeless.
I’ve been there and it’s hard, bit sometimes you have to evaluate your life and circumstances and eliminate the things that are not making you feel good and try and focus on the things that make you happy. Wishing you all the best! Stay positive x

  • Support, support, friends, family, fake smiles!! All of the above helps each day. Take it day by day
