  • FOR all the way! If it’s available to us and can ultimately save a life, then why the hell not do it.

  • I’m for it – it keeps those sinister diseases at bay. While I think everyone should be immunised, I agree that people should have choice in life about their family’s health.

  • People think these dreadful diseases are gone but they are only under control because of immunisation which is something we should be so thankful for.

  • Absolutely FOR!!! If everyone was immunized, then we would hardly have any health concerns in regards to the covered illnesses/diseases. It is the people who do not immunize their family who are putting others at risk, especially newborns or people with certain conditions who are more susceptible to these illnesses due to not being ABLE to have the appropriate vaccinations.

  • I’m all for it, anyway I can help and protect my child, and I will
    Do it

  • Definately for it!!

  • Immunisation is vital to the health of the community. People that font vaccinate are endangering their own children, encouraging diseases to come back into the community and risking the lives of everyone with compromised immunity or those that cannot vaccinate (eg due to allergies). I think vaccination should be compulsory unless there is a medical reason not to do it.

  • Yes, yes and yes. I have not heard a valid argument against it. And if anyone tries the ‘you can still catch it so why bother argument’ – yes, you can still catch the disease, the difference is that if you are immunised you have a very mild version of it (eg my son had chicken pox a few months ago – was all better in less than a week, full blow would have taken weeks to recover). When I was at school (back in the 80s) we all lined up in the nurses office for our shots. It is just what was done. 10 years ago measles was eradicated in Queensland. Polio – gone. And then there is herd immunity – not everyone can get vaccinated. Some people are immuno deficient or have an allergy that means they cannot get vaccinated. By everyone else being vaccinated it helps protect those who can’t.

  • I think it is improtant that all babies are imunised, what better way to stop the spread of some of the most horrible deseases.

  • Absolutely FOR immunisation! Unless a child has allergies, it is irresponsible not to immunise a child. We have a duty of care to the community to keep everyone safe from preventable illness.

  • A must in my eyes, not too sure about the flu shots as so many horror stories, but immunisation is the perfect protection for your own kids, i thought it was now mandatory for all school children, if not it should be

  • PRO; in the Pacific Islands, they have cases of polio, we eradicated it in the 1970’s, thanks to vaccination. In AUckland they have cases of measles due to immigrants who are not vaccinated; Parents and Grandparents: please check with your GP of your whooping cough vaccinations are up to date as babies can catch it and die a horrible death from it as they can’t get fully vaccinated until 6months – if an adult has a cough (doesn’t have to be a bad one) it could be whooping cough so stay away from babies please!!!

  • My niece died at 4wks old because her parents were against any needles and vaccinations. She had the rare vitamin K deficiency. Her parents could have prevented her from dying if she had had the shot at birth. So now they make sure their 2nd child has all the vaccinations. They don’t want to take any risks! All my 5 kids have had all the vaccinations.

  • I am definitely all for immunisations. As a special ed teacher I have done a lot of reading for and against. From my reading, there is a very, very slight risk when immunising (just like there is eating peanut butter or chicken if you read around with what you “may” get) but the very slight risks are far less than what can happen if you or your child gets sick from measles etc. The affects of these diseases can be devastating and why would you risk your child’s health and/or life by not immunising??

  • Definitely for it!

  • Yeah I am 100 % up for it.

  • There isn’t much choice these days, that is if you want your child to go to school in Victoria then they will have to be immunised. Also there is no truth in immunisations being linked to autism. I had both my children immunised that are now 9 & 10 and they are doing good. let children get a bit dirty and its even ok to get the house a little dirty, this can help your childs immune system. Im not a clean freak and the bonus is my children are rarely sick.

  • defiantly for.

  • It was recently proven that immunisations do not cause disorders such as autism etc.

I am a mum of 4 and I have always worked with children and have seen the terrible consequences of not immunising your children. I feel it verges on child neglect if you do not do your best to keep your children healthy

  • For. I read literature on both sides of the argument, but the only side that has evidence for its claims is the science behind pro-immunisation. I found that the anti-immunisation literature was based on scare mongering and personal stories rather than actual science (or pseudo-science whereby they pick and choose scientific morsels and then misinterpret or inflate the effects for dramatic effect). I understand why some parents are scared to immunise after reading that literature though.
